Re: [Game] MineClone 2 [0.67.2]
Would it complicate things code-wise to make this behave as it should? Nope, it seems to be rather simple, if you'd take a look, 3cd30a5 . But maybe we need to add the same for double-sized chests and Shulker boxes, IDK... BTW, I couldn't talk to Wuzzy about my Nether portal updates despite tha fac...

Re: Getting tired of it
(I inadvertently pressed "submit", sorry for the double post) I support a news section on the website, there's a section on the forums but that's much less visible and less reliable But don't you see the problem, man? We're talking about this only because I stomped enough my feet, and that...

Re: Getting tired of it
Minetest's true potential lies in being generic, allowing for all types of different (voxel) games. That having said, we can and should "steal" ideas whenever we can. But only the good ideas. ;-) That's what I meant, I didn't mean to clone Minecraft. Also, real talk here: you're not reall...

Re: Getting tired of it
Personally I haven't been around long enough to have a real idea about who does what and in what order or time delay. To be honest I don't really care because I understand how difficult it must be to organize the devs so that things come together for a new release or update, time is of the essence. ...

Re: [Server] 3xile - featuring Dokimi's exile game --NEW-- now online
Having the HUD indicators is definitely an improvement. Of all the details info we got from the 'health' tab, the thing we need the most is the actual temperature numbers. Otherwise you don't know if it's too hot or too cold. You can guess from the weather but when you're sleeping near fire, it's ha...

Re: [Server] Xanadu
From what information I've gathered from other players, it seems that YuGiOhJCJ would sit idle on the server for hours on end causing multiple mobs to attack, which caused the log files to bloat considerably while being attacked, which in turn which caused server lag as well as device lag for all of...

Re: [solved] How to check real lag of server?
Festus1965,
Everything you write does not matter when we talk about complex mods that use timers.
No profiler, or /status will never show you the delay / lag.
________________
Only 100% of players who tell you "I can't open a chest within 5 secs" can help you to detect lags.

Evtl.

Re: Question about map backups
Can maps be corrupted if they are copied as data is being written to them? I remember reading how to close the database to make safe copies, but I don't remember where or how. Some help? In theory I think so, yes. If you can, close the world (i.e. do not run an active Minetest on it) before doing t...

1) What positives do you see in games? Gaming can be relaxing and fun. 2) What negatives do you see in games? Many games influence kids in a bad way because they promote violence, brutality or bad lifestyle. Other than that, many games lighten or laugh at religious stuff and I will never ignore this...

Re: Minetest servers?
I am a father here trying to help my young son find a server to play on. He loves this game, but some users keep following him and destroying the houses he works on sometimes leading to a meltdown. I'm not sure what, if anything, can be done about that. Most serious servers have some form of protec...

Re: The future of Minetest
Thanks for your valuable opinions! @Pyrollo: you're right, but there's two things here. First, what MTE should be and should not be is exactly what needs to be written down, I agree. About the second part I don't agree 100%, because I think many MTG components (now in MTE) are general enough to serv...

Re: The future of Minetest
I'd like to add that MT, as a rather niche OSS project, doesn't really have the cooperation amongst modders that other communities might have. That's okay, and I understand. I'm not proposing a fully-blown cooperation amongst modders, no! It is one of the best feature of MT that so many games and m...

Re: The future of Minetest
Krock, Thanks for answering this post in with professionalism!!! Regarding Point #2, I think bzt refers to the actual minetest.conf file. It seems that when I upgraded from MT v5.1.0 to 5.2.0, a limited few options were read from minetest.conf. None of my mapgen settings transfered easily, with the ...

That is, each one can become a core developer by just requesting for it to celeron55? So easily?? Well, first off: A new core developer needs to have enough time and experience. There's no point in suggesting any people where we can't know if even they themshelves think that they qualify and have e...

Re: [Modpack] Dreambuilder [20200712-0803][dreambuilder]
syimyuzya, you'll need to talk to Philipnbenr and Sokomine about the hammer/anvil issue. As a general rule, I prefer changes be made at the individual mod level, both so that those changes have little risk of becoming stale or unmanageable, and also so that others who don't run Dreambuilder still ge...
