Re: Minetest git server
I am wondering, missing the two most seen answers in this forum WE dont trust minetest.one as want to steel minetest ... We dont trust gitea.minetest.one, as it is not part of official minetest.net domain ... * I am free to give that to there, or a copy, or whatever, if you find someone taking care ...

Re: Post your mod requests/ideas here
Ok I am thinking of an AI players mod, (bear with me, no coding experience), AI is very difficult to do and means a lot more (and diffrent things) that what you describe later on. Perhaps the Alive AI mod might be of intrest to you as it tries to implement some level of AI, though not in the mode y...

Re: Wiki Complaint Department
Oh, paramat, you're absolutely right. I have looked at the start page for so often that I have learned to ignore it … I totally overlooked the elephant in the room. Indeed, this single crappy start page can explain a lot of the confusion. Sadly, I have still no rights to update it. :-( I have propos...

Re: There are too many PRs
The Minetest development procedure has a huge problem: There are too many open PRs (pull requests). IMO the root problem is organizational structure, or lack thereof. Everybody's equal, and that's cute and all, but that also means many conflicting opinions and visions (or visionlessnesses) and rand...

Re: There are too many PRs
There has been a lot of talk, but the problem has not gone away … at all. Minetest has been consistently been over 150 OPEN PRs for months now, and there is no sign that it will ever go below 150 again. Whatever is done to reduce the number, it's not working. I feel that there's still not much organ...

Re: There are too many PRs
@Zughy, your words may be nice to listen but they aren't worth anything. If you want to move Minetest forwards, you should actually contribute and not only talk about how you would reorganise whole team.

Re: River water
it might be considered as griefing if you do it in multiplayer. If you don’t want an area to destroyed, protect it. f there is no protection mod available then there is no other way than to deal with it. Well, I talk about landscape griefing. There is simply no easy way to protect all rivers in the...

Re: Penalisation of non-free content in ContentDB [Split]
Even the distributions ask for donations. They even charge for support. Not even, of course they do. That is really hard work and the few I know do it very well. And of course support can not be free for a production system. But talking about minetest, .... Yes the core devs do a very good job in d...

Re: Penalisation of non-free content in ContentDB [Split]
somebody wanted me to cite the source of "Foss zealots" i have been digging into minetests history and found it on the old site here http://packages.8dromeda.net/minetest/websites/minetest_oldsite/contribute.php.html I never doubted that Minetest's founder might have said that. I never as...

Re: Penalisation of non-free content in ContentDB [Split]
Wuzzy, they just want to use the things made from others, add to it, and copyright that content for profit without sharing. Some have called it parasitic and it is: A parasite does not give back to its host. That is what permissive licensing allows. Its the classic infamous case of embrace, extend, ...

Re: Penalisation of non-free content in ContentDB [Split]
I want to chime in on the discussion. Personally, I think people should be able to make money with minetest, I'm just not sure whether contentdb is the best place for non-foss content. (I think there was a proposal somewhere for not listing proprietary content in contentdb searches, but allow it to ...

Since I'm chatty today, let's talk what is actually licensed. And how. All software written for a Linux kernel base OS must be licensed the same. No software written or compiled for a Linux kernel based OS can be ran without Linux, and is therefore derivative. All alternately licensed sofware for a ...

This may be a random thing to talk about, though I looked at the mod description and I had a question, why would the vines be creative only? They could look quite nice in the jungle-type biomes or prehaps could occasionally generate in the forests to add a bit of variety to the natural plant life. ...

Re: Convert Minecraft maps to Minetest worlds
Does not seem to work for MC 1.14.4 worlds: Interesting, MC 1.14.4 is storing biome data in 256 long integers instead of the 256 integers that would be expected in maps from that period, that's possibly the cause of the issue. I'd not seen this documented anywhere so it seems you may be the first t...

cuthbertdoublebarrel, thats not an argument or a point. You've simply just said: "freegamers you are wrong. your ideals are wrong". Have you ran out of points to make? It sounds like it. What is wrong with having ideals or principles? You can say its unrealistic but yet free software exist...

So you're teaching your kids to depend on provably insecure, proprietary spyware for communication? Nice.
