Re: How to be listed on the MultiCraft server list?

What is this "Minetroltest" project you're speaking of? It sounds awfully similar to a depreciating name given to Minetest by the maintainer of a certain hostile fork.

No, quite the contrary: Open source requires you to allow others to monetize the software; non-commercial clauses make software nonfree. if its not in breach and if you add Ads to the Game will you let us delete t...

German native speaker here. "You suck" would be "du saugst" No, that's wrong. Words can have different meanings depending on context. In this context, "suck" means "sucking [at something]" (informally), e.g. being bad at something. "Das nervt!" is a ...

Re: MTS Editor

Which is a great, but I was asking for a file format specification not an API documentation (totally useless to me as MTSEdit is implemented in C, not in Lua). Well, it is supposed to be both, although the "specification" part is rather brief; the schematic format is simply built on top o...

Re: Realistic Trees

This would require modifying MTG though since it explicitly checks for node.param2 ~= 1 . Sounds like a failing of MTG, especially with the bitop library present. Well, this feature of MTG is much older than the addition of the bitop library. That said, I can't really blame them for not having this...

Re: MTS Editor

My only question is, why does it have baked light data? That makes no sense, because you can place schematics in different parts of the world (with different lighting environments). Baked light data is optional and off by default; I push the responsibility of deciding whether it's useful onto the u...

Re: Realistic Trees

No, this will change place_param2 just fine. The problem is that place_param2 doesn't do what you think it does: It merely changes the default param2 values leaves modes will get when they are placed (by players). The param2 of all existing nodes in the world definitely won't be affected, and mapgen...

I've submitted an issue to https://bugs.linux-forks.de/advtrains/ for the use of undocumented texture modifier features (using parentheses instead of escapes inside combine). It seems you are right. I have no idea where the Minetest app on my tablet came from. I would have thought I would've been smart enough to get the official Minetest. :-(
Well perhaps you installed these mods through ContentDB?

I've also noticed that the Minetest app on Google Play includes dmobs. I guess they're trying to make the game a little better?
You got the wrong Minetest app. Rule of thumb: If it ain't bland, it ain't Minetest.

Wrapper functions? Preserving backwards compatibility is as simple as minetest = voxeltest. The core alias hasn't caused any issues either.

Re: Having problem running Animalia mod on Linux chroot, problem with old kernel?

Yes. The underlying problem is LuaJIT vs PUC Lua 5.1. ElCeejo is probably testing on LuaJIT, which happily accepts empty ranges - math.random(69, 42) is accepted by LuaJIT just fine, but PUC Lua 5.1 throws. I've now added a trivial commit to strictest to help mod authors find this without having to ...

Re: How do I measure ABMs vs Nodetimers?

I believe that the main bottleneck with writing to files will be the disk I/O, especially on HDDs. Luckily we can now move that to a separate thread pretty easily! local path = ... local interval = 42 --[s] local file = io.open(path, "r") local data = assert(minetest.deserialize(file:read&...

Re: How to detect if player's inventory formspec is currently opened?

That callback is only invoked when a user submits/closes a formspec, but not when a formspec is opened. Thus it is invoked too late. In fact it may even be invoked after another formspec has been opened due to latency.

For my online_craftguide mod , I solved this by writing a CSM to render these images to texture. This relied on a misc stuff PR , which I then split into store_texture , get_item_defs and a texture modifier / "speedup" PR . All of the PRs are now closed (and would probably have significant...

Re: MTS Editor

minetest.encode_png sadly isn't this powerful. All it does is dump a bunch of ARGB8 values in a file in PNG format, that's it. It's trivial to implement in Lua yourself.
