Re: trying to get back into the game - where to start?

ah also Xanadu, some player meet at my server AsiaThailand, where I set up a small area where they can 'wait' together, look at the Xanadu Thread and contact the both have a small local map saved, take that, choose some mods (we found out, and many are on my server also now) and use this small part...

Re: trying to get back into the game - where to start?

since i'm still waiting for Xanadu to come back i'd rather not get too invested in other servers yet. so it's definitely going to be singleplayer. i wanted to have a singleplayer world again for quite some time, i just didn't get to it. mostly because i couldn't make it like Xanadu, although identic...

trying to get back into the game - where to start?

i haven't had a singleplayer world ever since i started playing on Xanadu, and i haven't touched minetest at all ever since Xanadu went offline. i attempted to create my own game a few times but never got very far. i still have some vague idea of what i want to do, but currently not the time and mot...

Re: What kind of grass height on litter/dirt sides do you prefer?

i voted middle because i can't decide and it's probably the most pleasing to look at. i think using both (or all?) is good, since there are different types of foliage growing in different shapes. short grass would likely have short edges, while longer grass can hang over the edge to make it appear l...

Re: Request:

Can anyone remember who donated the mobs_monster sound effects for the mod ? I'm having trouble locating the license for them. i would have expected to find a post in your mod topic but the search function couldn't find any mentions there. if you can't figure it out, perhaps you can borrow some new...

Re: [Server] Xanadu

The server will be in the same state it was left, map and all, we are just waiting on electrical work to be done for it's reactivation. oh... so my love/hate project is still waiting for me. and i thought i could ditch it and start something else. :P better dig up the old blueprints and finalize th...

Re: Naming conventions, biomes, registering

i've been too long away to know why exactly this doesn't work, but here's some random stuff: - dofile can only load files within the same directory as itself, so no importing files from other mods - you can add other mods as dependencies so they load before yours and their provided items can be used...

Re: [Server] Xanadu

just checked the settings and noticed that local map saving is off by default. no data from me then... i don't like the "temporary solution" as it implies wasting time on something that won't last anyway. personally i'd rather wait or have a permanent migration. might be a personal problem...

Re: Water lilies should function on top of river water

haven't checked yet, but i guess it's just one line of code. water is not targetable by default, unless you use special items like buckets. probably water lilies were coded explicitly for water nodes. in that case, i think, it can be solved by updating the specifications to water as a group rather t...

Re: [Dev Diary] Al-Kimiya

Maybe give it a week or two before making a final decision though? Right after the loss motivation is obviously the lowest. i most likely will make something again, just not with the exact same design. originally i had a story in mind for Al-Kimiya but i lost interest along the way when i started w...

Re: How do I light my campfire?

It says this: To use the campfire, you have to craft one. You need 2 stick and 3 stone to craft it following way: ``` default:stick stairs:slab_cobble default:stick stairs:slab_cobble stairs:slab_cobble ``` - Just rightclick with a flint_and_steel in your hand on the campfire and it will flame. does the mod not give a description of how to use it?
if not, try using flint&steel.

made a little progress :D
RPG16 is more difficult to modify than MTG because of the colours, but the result is worth it.

Re: hardware requirements for shadows

turns out i actually have only ~15-20 FPS with my usual settings.
with shadows, even with all advanced settings reduced, it drops to 2 FPS.
guess i'll just cry in the corner and try to ignore that shadows exist.

hardware requirements for shadows

what are the hardware requirements for the new shadows?
i was so exited to play with them, but even on the lowest quality the lag makes the game pretty much unplayable.

Re: [Dev Diary] Al-Kimiya

IMO, textures are one (among many) weak point of MTG. Due to it's history they vary wildly in style and quality and often the quality is rather... lacking. And not helping the situation is that many mods make their textures by copying them from default, slapping them with a color filter and calling...

Re: [Dev Diary] Al-Kimiya

tiny update: i reverted back to using the default textures since they are easier to modify. water comes in 3 colour variants - the default one, a lighter coloured warm water and a darker coloured cold water. probably need to to the same for river water to fit into the palette. gotta start structurin...

i guess this can be considered a form of digital comission art. in which case it should be presented as such.
and since you're selling it, you should at least provide a few quality samples of what you can do.

Hey-ho. o/ How is it going? i made light/dark variants of stone, and plan to do this for all materials. biome specific colours are limited to certain plants and special materials, otherwise it would be too monotone. i finished one of my crochet projects and started writing a book (unrelated to this...

I'm also opposed against using magic in games because magic is a part of occultism, which is also religion. if magic is automatically occult religion, it is poorly designed. with enough explanation magic can be treated as science, and the more complex and/or abstract the science-fiction the more oc...

Re: New, less moddable minetest game?

not to spark religious debate, but why exactly are fictional religions bad? it your own personal religion doesn't allow you to play games or read books with other deities, aren't games/stories without gods just as bad because they deny the existence of your god? aren't the programmers essentially th...
