Re: [Server] Inside The Box [Puzzles]

TL;DR: Imgur don't want you to use their service to host the images for your website. GitHub on the other hand specifically offer a service (GitHub Pages, which you're already using) that lets you host a small website in relation to your open-source projects. You are seriously risking losing all th...

Not going to. There's no value in hosting these myself. It would only increase time/cost.

Lol, so when Imgur goes down, so will all screenshots on your website … Nice. xD But to be honest, I couldn't care less about the screenshots anyway. It's not important to me. Who do you think has better (free, no bandwidth limitation) image hosting than them? No ads, infinite life of images. If th...

Re: How to pick a license (in under 5 minutes time!)

Courts have upheld the right to reverse engineer for decades. This is a misconception. You're skipping over a huge amount of legal reasoning here and drawing a conclusion that is not correct. Courts have upheld "Fair Use". For instance, courts have upheld that it is legal to, for educatio...

Re: How to pick a license (in under 5 minutes time!)

sofar: I think we're talking past each other. You don't own the copyright to software just because you paid for it, but your average software license isn't worth the bytes they're stored in. They don't grant you permissions to do anything that you aren't already allowed to do under the law, and usu...

what about the textures? Should I mention the license in a file on the textures folder or what? Yes. Add a file that is clearly labelled "License" or "Copying" and write down the license for the texture files in them - not just the name of the license, but something like "A...

Re: How to pick a license (in under 5 minutes time!)

sofar: That was a direct quote from the article, see the end of "Default licensing---proprietary, all rights reserved" Which is correct. So it's not a misunderstanding. Open Source software is licensed, not owned. Without "ownership", or, more correctly "authorship" as...

These are a great start! The clock and magnifying glass are almost good to go already. I think the jumping guy needs to have a little platform that he jumps off or jumps to. I think the "easy" and "hard" icons are good, but I need to think about those a bit more. What's the eye o...

Re: Post your videos!

Very interesting! Do you have the code somewhere so people can verify that this offers the security benefits you claim? Also, in your video you state that this uses pub/private key pairs (makes total sense, that's what I would likely use if I'd design something like this), but that isn't the same a...

Re: Post your videos!

Last year one of my more vigilant players made me aware that it is possible for anyone to inspect locked chests on servers with only basic CSM knowledge. This means that confidential information in written books are vulnerable to intrusion. So I ended up developing a mod that offers block-chain enc...

Re: [Server] Inside The Box [Puzzles]

So, do i have to change all my mech or is it not so important ? i didn't understand very well the thing about node timers. In my mech, the player needs to open the empty chest before it disappear, if he does so, the next empty chest to open is created and so on. There's no need to do this in boxes ...

Re: [Server] Inside The Box [Puzzles]

I found one scenario that doesn't fit, if the chest is created (see my next box 866). But, hopefully, node detectors detect open chests. they don't, but, we'll need to fix that created chests can trigger things properly. Are you sure that this doesn't work? I mean, have you placed a chest, linked i...

Re: [Server] Inside The Box [Puzzles]

Ok, so, you need to add a filter, but, then you can avoid using 4 adders and make do with just one: 3x(chest -> filter) -> adder(set to 3) -> filter -> door that opens only when 3 chests are looted. Don't forget, as you said before, 3 more adders set to 1 between the filters and the adder set to 3....

Re: [Server] Inside The Box [Puzzles]

Hook the chests up to an adder set to 1 (this prevents multiple opening of the same chest from sending out more than one trigger). Then hook all those 3 adders to an adder set to 3. Only 4 nodes are needed this way. Problem solved and this will work reliably. You call that reliable? it only works i...

Chests that are opened by players send out a trigger signal. Yeah, I'm just looking at your picture and you're doing it "all wrong" :P. You should never use a node detector on a chest. Hook the chests up to an adder set to 1 (this prevents multiple opening of the same chest from sending o...

Why?

Chests that are opened by players send out a trigger signal.

A player can not place an empty chest.

There is literally no reason to add this code. You should trigger on the chest open event instead.

Re: [Server] Inside The Box [Puzzles]

I thought on a special box, like one big box of 100 nodes square, not to make a hide and seek box, but a beautiful landscape with a story line. It could be 100 nodes for the 10th accepted box, 200 nodes for the 20th, and so on. Boxes that large are too expensive for the server - it would take too m...
