Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

After careful consideration, the /tpr and /tphr commands have been depricated. Teleport request functionality is still available. But you must craft a Teleporter Staff. This adds a greater degree of challenge, and in my view is more fitting with the overall gameplay of JT2. The recipe for the Telepo...

Re: "just test" server

It seems the spawn sanitizer is deleting furnaces, regardless of whether they are in a protected area or not. Every day that I log in, I notice that the furnace is missing from my apartment. As a test, I placing a furnace directly next to a protection brazier and filled it with fuel. As expected, it...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

I don't know why we need in-game chat logs especially since we have the logs available on the website but still big props for you for this mod. Thanks! The primary impetus for the tool was to aid moderation and administration. For example, copying text into a translator is impossible given the exis...

Re: What do the signal bars next to the server names mean?

If it is really the ping, how can it be meaningless? PS: If it is really inaccurate like people claim, this sounds like a bug to me. What I would like to know is how the ping for Minetest's server list is being determined. Is it using an echo packet from servers.minetest.net? If so, the result will...

If this can not be easily fixed: Why is this command not in builtin (as a workaround)?
Simple: Because that would actually be useful and helpful.

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

I just completed work on a fully-featured chat history viewer for JT2. And it is ready to be deployed tonight! http://i.imgur.com/2HINFFR.png With the /chat command, you can view the entire chat history (up to 100 messages) or you can filter messages by a specific player as well as by PM or shout. So apparently this just happened :) http://i.imgur.com/2HINFFR.png What began as a rudimentary formspec to copy text from chat turned into a fully-featured chat history viewer, including the ability to filter messages by player as well as by PM or shout, and even to search for specified phrases with...

Re: Minetest 0.5 is on the road

As I understand it, the "dev" tag refers to a pre-release that is ahead of the current stable branch, and is thus unstable. What I find very confusing is why development on Minetest 0.5.0 isn't tagged as "0.5.0-dev", but instead maintains the version number of the previous stable...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

Copper rails were removed in the recent update to boost_carts mod, resulting in "unknown nodes". They should now be correctly aliased. Thanks to AspireMint and Arisha_L for the heads up. Sorry about the mixup!

Yes, I see that now after looking at the PR. I will probably grab the textures from MTG. Thanks!

I am planning to add this mod to JT2. However, I have to wonder if the textures were preserved in the new MTG, or if they were altered prior to merging.

There will be other breaking changes, including a revamped network protocol. That is what I am concerned about in my post above.

How did you download a Minetest 0.5 client? The core devs haven't even announced the release of 0.4.17 yet.

Re: Minetest 0.5 is on the road

A new feature 'settable player collision box' has been merged in MT 0.4.16dev and this is a breaking change that can be considered part of 0.5.0 breakage, old clients will not be usable with new servers (and the other way around). Am I to understand that if a server owner updates to version 0.5, th...

843jdc, why not ask lag for some pointers? He could probably even modify the script for your needs. Honestly, if knew enough about Python, I'd give it a shot. But my area of expertise is Perl and JavaScript. So can't really offer much help, I'm afraid :)

Re: "just test" server

Hey lag: What is the possibility of reducing the range of open-spawn from 120m to 99m? Not only would this allow the perimeter road to be permanently protected, which is beneficial for all players, but also property owners alongside that road could build up their frontage instead of simply blanketin...

Re: What lines of Minetest sourcecode have something todo wm

There is nothing on the CPP side that controls mobs; all of that logic is currently Lua only. You would have to define a new class (perhaps a subclass of LuaEntity SAO) and develop a suitable API from scratch.

Re: [Mod] Item Frames [itemframes]

My solution was to override the registration functions. This affords a universal means for interactive nodes (like those used in the itemframes mod) to intercept right-clicks whenever a player is wielding a craftitem or a node with an on_place handler. With this code it is also possible to open door...

Re: What do the signal bars next to the server names mean?

I too find these signal bars to be confusing, if not misleading. I've played servers with 4 bars that have high lag and network latency and are almost unplayable, but then switched to a server with only 3 bars that is very responsive by comparison. Perhaps a more useful indicator would be a green or...

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute

@up: Afaik, you can do the same with pedestals by just placing a glass node on top. The glass texture is different than the texture for the showcase (which is a solid, white frame with all faces drawtype). The other method also doesn't allow for glow boxes or any other full height nodes to be place...
