I am not a core developer, so this may make me sound like an idiot, but if the server gets the client's ip, name, password, etc. shouldn't it be able to get a texture?

I think it should be configurable. Some may want to keep it the same because they are used to left click and don't have much problem with accidentally digging the door. Yet some may want right click.

I use TouchLua. It's free and it comes with tutorials too. That is, if by mobile you meant iPhone.

Vanessa, could you please remove the compass, watch, and cyro mods? Ever since you added them the world loads extremely slowly. Or at least see if they are causing the issue.
