ANAND, xerox123: Great to see that you have started to make maps! I'm waiting impatiently for more maps on the server. I wanted to start this evening but realized that finding suitable places is more difficult that I thought.

I've downloaded and tried your 5 maps and taken screenshots.

Good job, I think that the Fractal in particular could be added now. Rubenwardy, what do you think about it?

Some random remarks:
- ANAND: your maps are clipped at the bottom, there are some places where there is no ground. I think you have not set the lower limit deep enough. Apart from that I can imagine playing on the Swiss map. I like the very irregular terrain, this will be an additional difficulty we haven't experienced before.

I think the supermarket is a bit too repetitive, it would be great to vary at least the material of the shelves: one section in desert stone, another in sandstone, etc, and maybe their layout.

Gail de Sailly - thank you for the valuable feed-back - how do I set the lower limit? I wasn't able to notice that flaw - could it be that the map hadn't loaded completely? The highly irregular terrain was intentional, as it adds more challenge to the game.

xerox123 - Both your maps are fantastic, judging from the screen-shots!

General question - how do I load and 'play' in the submitted maps?

I don't think so; there would be an offset between the position I set as pos1, and the bottom of the map, which is not the case.

  1. Create a world using "singlenode" mapgen. Enable worldedit.
  2. Go in the world directory, create a directory named "schems", and place the mts file inside.
  3. Start the game, enable fly (there is no ground in singlenode mapgen)
  4. Do "//1" to set the position where you will generate the map
  5. Do "//mtschemplace yourschematic" (where yourschematic is the name of the mts file without ".mts")

Gael de Sailly - I could load and play in the maps; tnx! Now I understand what 'clipped at the bottom' means - I just created a map, then and there, and did not even touch a leaf, so as to not spoil the natural beauty of the map. I'll cover the holes right away, but is it possible to re-save the map to the same .schem file?

xerox123 - Excellent maps indeed! But I noticed a massive chunk of wall and floor missing (separate holes), near the 'PAY HERE' sign in the super-market map. Did I mess up the downloaded .schem file by accident, or is it the same case in the original map too?

Hi, I just tried to load the maps in myself and have noticed the same weirdness...

+ Example


Each time I load in the schematic the holes appear in different places, for example, one time it was behind the 'FROZEN' sign, in the image, it's above one of the flags and the aisles. No idea what's causing it...

The holes appear on a random basis? The .schem file has probably been corrupted - did minetest crash while saving the supermarket schem the second time?

Im starting to make maps i wanna try make a map called sky battle parkour your way to the flags
there will be a a big sky ship in the centre it will be hard cause of school

Amazing to see how fast ctf can grow in a short period many improvements but i wonder how will you combat hackers and the worst of all stupid LAG xD :/

PETE: CTF is indeed in the middle of a massive boom, thanks to its large user-base which has developed into a nice, enthusiastic community with a common objective - "Make CTF great again!". Also big thanks to rubenwardy for putting a lot of effort and dedication into improving this server.

I'm worried about those beautiful structures being broken down - It would be nice if we could not break the structures in-game... maybe some sort of areas mod (I'm thinking of ShadowNinja's Areas mod)?

It is also implied that we would not be able to build any other extra structures (like extra fortifications, bridges, watch-towers, etc.), pluck apples, or execute the 'loulicats strategy' - an added challenge! Implementing this would definitively enhance the realism of the game. Of course, only this medieval village map could be protected (by the administrator), and no one else will have the privs to protect areas anywhere.

@rubenwardy - I saw your new crafting mod. Looks pretty interesting - how does it work?
