running well

* build a lot of hyperloop, with each distance of 1.000 nodes on my beloved 1.000/x/1.000 coordinates cross-points (as 0,x,24.000 and so on), and got about 150 Stations yet, with longest ride 39.640 nodes ... still just 32 sec
* with 49 and once 50 gamer inside the lag was about 0.7 ... only when I explorer the next 1.000 nodes for let the digtron work along ... it raise to 1.6 / 1.8 but for the other game no effects

Hyperloop system:
* one Station at every 1.000/x/1.000 connection points, overlapping the existing rail systems I build during "Wildes Land" and on other servers (Pandorabox, etc.)
* first around the actual spawn5
* first area North East of map = positive coordinates
* first only lines in distance of 3.000 nodes, mean at 0/x/.12.000 ... 15.000 ... 18.000 to East, and then also from
12.000 ... 15.000 ... /x/0 to North meeting at example 18.000 /x/ 18.000 - about 310 stations
* then fill in the gap with just 1.000 nodes hyper-loop from this existing lanes as from 12.000/x/6.000 to 11.000/x/6.000 and 13.000/x/6.000 = about 960 stations
== most effective low resources construction

... than later the North-West another 960 stations and further ...


other beside results ...
* when top 1 in the server-list sure more gamer try to join as of two reasons
** lazy to scroll down for the 319th server ...
** they don't want to be alone (in the wood) to be able to grief, copy or have someone can SHOW there newest 8 nodes build ...

BUT
* there are a lot of miss-matched clients try to connect what should not be normal, as every client should sort and show there own version, in rank first ... then followed by the other version ... and so gamer don't scroll much THERE IS A WRONG client out there, ignoring this !!!
* most of the trials was again 'number nicks' or just finger on keyboard nicks that WAS NOT ABLE to recognize the Password in the Description seen on a normal mt client when chosen the server = not sure if those gamer are able to read English, and if so understand it ?

ALL of those 5 gamer in the last week made in in my server, had no any idea what this game is for "What I have to do here ?" is well known for me already ...

So my result is clear ... as it was at the beginning of the 5.0 versions ... there are massive clients out there, maybe
* sure not original mt
* ignoring the version separation
* even again offer automatic nick names

That so far ... next result then next post ... after my breakfast ...

other thoughts ... maybe with further decisions:

as of this multicraft servers, and mostly sure also special non minetest clients out there (see post above)

what are the strongest proofed version 5 Minetest Servers that would be able to handle this massive amount of absolute new gamer (automatic nicknames, not able to find the game password in description)

I mean they need to be able to handle at least 30 gamer, better 50 ...

as only version 5.x ..., minimum max 30 ... and should have had about min 10 gamer seen
seen some more near, when see them often, will put them in

I just checked again, and points are minus when
* max gamer is set > 200
or
* server reach 80% of there max gamer set.

As I had 50 gamer last time, and set 64 gamer max than from 52 gamer sure I will get minus.
So setting max to 200 might be save, but please ... set it just to the max that your hardware can handle ... do not offer what you cant do at the end. With 64 I am sure most of you are safe,
otherwise take max seen gamer / 4 * 5 - set max gamer minimum (50 / 4 * 5 = 62.5, I set 64 should work until I see more then 50 and could proof that server can also handle this !!!)
Set new max_users to 74 = 59 without malus

We admins are not doing nice to minetest itself, if we offer a lot of gamer slots, but then we suffer in lag, and the gamer think minetest can't handle it ... as just a server don't realize it's limits !

* some max gamer settings are beyond as believe (a raspberry with 127 haha)
* those are not proofed to be able to handle it
* to young, to often restarted ... whatever ...
* only v5 ans need to focus our dev and mod on ONE version run well



why ? mhh as of a post complaining this Multicraft server (most seen as name of version 2.0.0) should go own other listing (existing) or we should have only minetest servers (what is this) ...

Would we 'true' minetest server be able to handle this amount ~ near 200 gamer lost there server ?

Answer, mostly NO !

Why ?
We failed to think greater than have seen and prepare the core, the mods and special out hardware to handle minimum 30-50 gamer at once ...


But also What is a 'true minetest server ?
* not changed the src code = then I am out, I changed the ms settings for ABM to 666ms (default 200)
* not clones ?
* or rewritten mt code that has it's own code-base (git), NEED to do there own upgrades as can't just use the mt source ?
* or just depending on the name ?

As I thought also 2 years before ... I feel like a silent unseen overtaking of the free minetest game by profit making usage ... steeling the new gamer via fail clients and stronger servers ... to dry 'us' out ...

but I got that problem thanks to Linuxdirk, will reverse it and compile new, setting abm_time_budget = 0.65 is set in conf

I am looking for that issue, that with
mod techage = true
some receipts don't work at normal furnace then

so far need to check again:

about 2 years ago there was the server "hometown" which averaged about 30-60 players. That's the last I remember seeing a very popular MineTest server. Before that "survival x, free pizza, xanadu, lhr , bananaland" and a couple more averaged over 30 players.
So there's other hosts that proved they can handle. There's just no players these days.

I may have to write / say sorry to this coders which seam have to prepared a client that is using automatic names with numbers, as they may had following reasons to do this and showed a good understanding and analysis about what happened as I see it now:
* no knowledge about English alphabet and the problem of minetest or the servers not to accept other char-sets as also Burmese / Myanmar, Lao or Thai letters,
* lack of usernames like jack or maria ... and the blocking as name is used already and offered an easy way to ensure more gamer don't struggle already at this point to use the game

some suggesting:
* if your not sure about max gamers, go about 1/5 higher, then you have seen for sure
as too much gamer, but can't do it later is damaging your servers and also all minetest trust
Example:
* Subgames for all (200): sure seen last week 14, + 20% / 3 ... very low 17, but sure can take a serious 64
* Blocky Survival (100): sure seen only 17, + 20% / 3/4 ... is 21, just use 64 max also
even 32 would still work for both, looking more true / serious

uhh, had a good day start and thought ... try 5.4.1 on game PC
and surprising no crash anymore as of a special placement of machines
and only sad alphabeth is not working then

so ... as used much around Spawn4 sure missing them ...
so I hope I get some hint how to repair that in mod

will see ... keep thinking if it is worth,
or do it soon ... that gamer see more early other problems that I haven't realized,
but all other mods start ... but with a lot of warning about soon outdated functions ... = a lot of work for mod programmers also soon

testing for a view days, as no crash during start with 5.3.0 before

visited some areas so far ...

as under 5.2.0 no failure or crash now for months from this mod,
is was downloaded on 11.04.2021, and this is just still the same version as now

and now under 5.4.1 just updated, it crashes
and as 5.4.1 is already some days out ... still not found by other server admins under 5.4.1 ?

also found again the map 'issue'
* [mod] map inside minetest_game and so BrainCraft is deletet
==> at Minimap (now again without mapping Kit) ALSO Radar is back ...
on my way, will be fixed next restart
but I think I solve it different this time ... just enable (true ?) the minimap_radar as maybe
map/init.lua #31

as 34 in, have lag about .7 (0.65 - /.75) is worse then under 5.2.0 with 50 gamer and 0.78 lag - but maybe I get it better compare next hours
as 40 lag is ~ .84 - so far ... 5.4.1 is more basic lagging than 5.2.0
with 47 had 0.95
hey devs, what did you wrong ? this is about 20% lost in speed!

and as just got Nr. 1 in serverlist (all) it starts again:
* mismatched client: different IP ! from about 7:57 local
- China Fujian Quanzhou
- China Henan Xinyang
- China Shandong Jining
- China Zhejiang Hangzhou
- China Hebei Zhangjiakou
- China Jiangsu Wuxi
- China Hebei Zhangjiakou

running / online
and no crash since 31 hours ... but that more lag problem

and later several new starts as of the Field "use_texture_alpha": Boolean values are deprecated; use the new choices

running now with all set to 'clip'

already changed all use_texture_alpha to read from minetest.conf, still set 'clip',
but next easy to change all just with restart or maybe later then just with admin /set ... 'blend' ?

with 5.2.0 instead of 4 days tested 5.4.1, as too much mods are not ready for 5.4.1 (use_texture_alpha) and 5.4.1 more laggy
33 gamer, lag 0.66 = nice, back to speed

there are a lot of things can think when server doesn't make problems as of the bad version 5.4.1 ...

during digging, also with digtron for the map wide hyper loop system ... and so also waiting ...

there are 60 * 60 areas with each 1000 * 1000 nodes, if every gamer just got one of them = 3.600 gamer own place
as I know 500 * 500 is already bit enough - rest 'needed' can go high and deep
then we have 3.600 * 4 = 14.400 areas, with each one gamer ...

and why then they all sit together in just maybe one 2.000 * 2.000 area around the spawn ?
* lonely ?
* no idea about the map size ?
* friendly to admins, lazy to backup files bigger than 10 GB ?
* to far to next neighbor for ask him to check his new build ... most not ready ...
* no proper transport system to avoid that walking time ?

I just think now, to give all of our long term gamer one section fixed ... they proofed continue gaming, and out there no danger ... lazy gamer won't reach them ...

As of the discussion the minetest.net server list only for original, not forked, minetest servers,
and the other discussion about what is a true minetest source server ...

I just can say:
* to have a strong server is legal,
* to have multiple accounts is legal,
* to let people stay in afk is legal,
* to offer not proofed maximum gamer with 200 (as just no malus) is legal,
* to make an mt fork, and use an own multicraft AND minetest server-list is (even) legal and allowed
* to use a game password is legal,
so ... take it.

When this MultiCraft (fork source) servers are gone, I also will reconsider thinking about the afk ...

Online now 2d / 48 hours without crash under better, faster 5.2.0 (instead of 5.4.1 and not updated mods)

but,
I found an advantage about 5.4.1 Client (to former used 5.2.0), or this is also from another setting in server, to serve faster data
* with 5.4.1 a Ubuntu PC can hold 10 instead of 8 clients (that was important before Corona, as kids here didn't have to leave and rejoin so often, just switch to there task and continue gaming)
* with 5.4.1 Win32 on a Win10 PC also now 11 Clients are running, instead of only 8 (reason above)
* the Win32 5.4.1 load much faster (... or that could be as of server setting 'max_packets_per_iteration = 4096')

but with Corona, and no kids here anymore ... bit this PC should to do something ... stabilizing my Wattage on a nice level when sunshine ... so mtclients works

Just thought,
I might be able to solve that so less skins problem, as my mod u_skins is so old,

so download mod skinsdb, started 5.4.1 - crash ... as of skinsdb and unified_inventory

ok, download newest version unified_inventory and also u_i_plus
5.4.1 starts but the armor diamond is too big and wrong position, and other items also not fix into scheme if inventory

downloaded newest 3d_armor ... crash complete as of a global variable nil ...

finished try to update skins ...

or Rule : don't update if there is no need as of an existing failure,
you just get minor advantages but NEW failures.

and they still post that mods for 5.0 will run on all versions 5.2, 5.3 or 5.4.1 , haha


waiting for the Solar pulling enough energy into my grid to start ...
* even cloudy weather 6:40 serer is solar powered (~110 Watt)
* followed by my PC at about together 270 Watt ... 7am
* the hole room takes about 370 Watt as of still fans are running, pulling out warm air from rooms, 7:10
* at about 500 Watt I can start two other PC for the kids, guess 7:30 ICT
* 9 AM ABOUT 1.550 Watt ... another 3 PCs are there ...

Celine was just on Roblox ... and found like "Skywars" ... or the 5 Islands game, center dropping items, and 4 teams fight each other with sword, bow ... what a from another copying world ...

You could enable the subnet feature. https://github.com/joe7575/Minetest-Hyp ... figuration
This would make it possible to group stations into subnets, even if all stations form one physical hyperloop network.
