AspireMint is correct. Daylight will travel down a hole unlimited as long as there isn't anything blocking it, or it's not night :)

If it could be recreated, that would lead to cheating just like with the sneak ladders problem we once had.

also makes people go further away from the spawn and generate more world and accelerate the growth of the map

iisu, I sense your frustration. It's never made sense to me why the mapgen v7 algorithm is inconsistent across different engine versions (all within the same 0.4.x branch). In essense there is no guaranteed way to ensure map continuity. It's basically a crapshoot. I understand that the core devs sometimes choose to fine-tune the code, but that shouldn't interfere with the integrity of existing worlds.

On a somewhat related note, maike posted a couple videos showcasing the "ill effects" of the recent mapshrink on the underworld.

The good news is that lag seems to have rectified some of the map griefs mentioned above. Let's hope the worst is behind us now :)

Here's a quick and simple map I prepared of the various roadways around spawntown.

Hopefully at some point, lag might consider uploading a recent satellite image of the world using minetestmapper.

Are those actual names of the roadways or did you just give them names of players who built them/keep them/live by them for the sake of the map? I like the idea. Maybe we (those who own the roadways) should give the streets their names and place name plates like on JT2?

EDIT: nvm, I just noticed they're actually named after players and have their name plates. Neat.

Nah, JT is for exploration and survival. Where's exploration when you have a map on you?

I think all the roads in the map other than the Lag highway on the east side and the Cleaner Pro Avenue are owned and built by Morpheus. As I recall, Cleaner Pro Avenue was given that name by rnd back in April, since it was the only road on the server at the time. All the other roads seem to be dedicated to influential players from the days of the original just test (I recognize most of them from the Just Test Hall of Fame building on maikerumine's ESM server).

What to add for if those chests have already existed long ago? At least, they craft from one mese block in center slot and 8 stone blocks around that mese block.

Seems like there is new stuff on server today:
- stone monster can gives things like mossy cobblestone, torch, other stuff, and GOLD!
- green/yellow/red monster's health indicator
- they seems to show up in the day too.

It seems to slow down the server a bit.. there is massive "hit" by too fast cheat for a lot of people because it was slow.

Oh well, i didn't notice big change in cpu usage, so it may be network usage problem. I always had suspicion, that nametags may slow down clients with slow internet.
Hopefully, i will sort it out eventually.

you can turn off the health indicators by adding this line to minetest.conf file:

mobs_show_health = false

So at about 4:20 UT cvc decided to somehow flood the edge of spawn with lava.

Managed to catch the login thief pasty in this one! Oh well blank passwords are never a good idea.

Milan2018 put in most of the effort to contain the flow. but as you can see others helped too.

As you can see I heroically gathered the bones of all the noobs that strayed too close to the inferno.

Edit: I predict climbing picks will make these types of attacks much more common, it's not a great idea to let people climb up protected walls in my opinion.

Just checked again, lava is not contained. Would a vacuum bomb disable the flow? I don't currently have enough resources on this server to make one to find out.

He tried to do this again but I stopped the flowing lava with cobble. Later he flooded another corner.
