ESM will be down for fixes and tweaks for a few days, depending on how long it takes to find the bugs.

Random crashes without error are the culprit?
I still have no idea.

Hi. Last night, my son was attempting to log on to your server using the 4.12 client on Ubuntu, and it crashed at "Initializing Nodes... 20%" (which is where CuriousNoob was originally having problems). The problem went away after we updated to the 4.14 client. You are running a lot of mods, so maybe it just needs the latest stable client (BTW Ubuntu 14.04 is not the same as Minetest 0.4.14 - it took me a couple of reads of CuriousNoob's posts to make sure that I wasn't confusing myself). Anyway, I just thought I'd post this little bit of information just in case it helps you figure out what is going on.

I've been playing for about a week and have been loving it. Aside from the server being down for a significant amount of time, performance has generally been good, and it's only been laggy a couple of times. The combination of multiplayer and fairly tough mobs makes things interesting. Thanks for sharing your fine work!

I am having the same problem as Geomorpho. It has been crashing at 27% Initializing Nodes since mid-July.

Could the problem with connecting have anything to do with my router?

Hi again maikerumine :)

Just to update with further information...

With the same Intel/Mint desktop system as before :

My pre-built Minetest client from the minetestdevs ppa is still crashing at the above 20% point when trying to enter your E.S.M.C. --- yet has no problem signing-into other worlds. This is exactly what I reported the other week, no change there.

But...

Last night I tried building from source on this desktop system, following pretty-much the same formula as I posted previously which worked on the Fedora-laptop. I needed to install a slew of dependencies before it would complete the build. And it did. And it successfully signed-into E.S.M.C. :)

At least this tends to suggest that my earlier theory was wrong. The 20%-crash is probably not due to some consequential difference between nVidia vs Intel GL graphics.

What it * is * due to, however, I still have no idea.

Maybe their ppa-build links against different library versions than here locally-built. I do, after all, use a number of dev ppa repositories including xorg-edgers for X display stuff and kubuntu-ppa/backports.

I'm hoping it's not long until the KDE version of Linux Mint 18 is released, so that we can switch from the quite-old-now Ubuntu-14.04 LTS -based version we have presently.

Bulletpoint : I built locally on this desktop system and successfully did an E.S.M.C. login without any 20% crash.

Hopefully this helps someone somewhere... :)

I just wanted to pass along that I compiled Minetest that is listed at this link: http://dev.minetest.net/Compiling_Minetest I successfully played on your 30003 server. I use LinuxMint 17.3. There are some things I had to tweak to get the mods to load, but I logged in and played on that server. I switched to another account and tried the ppa version of Minetest, but it didn't work at all.

I am working on the server to fix lots of things. Please be patient everything will be all right.
It is difficult as their s server disallows some and there isn't setting in conf for that. Also bandwidth. It is quite difficult for 80+ players to acct my little old laptop on multiple servers. Sorry, I really has no idea that ESM and anarchy survival and jt2 would be so fun. I want to upgrade internet now and possible save for a dedicated server computer.
Pleas be patient all is not lost. I need to fix things.
Thank you all for being a part of these servers. :-) the friendship is beautiful and minetest is where I can call home.

I still wish I could play here. Cash's World is down, I can't connect to my server, so I have to be content with CTF.

Re: Extreme Survival Minetest server

I have been working many hours on the server to optimize and squish bugs.
There will be a few changes to the server when it starts again.
The map size was 5.1 Gb and I am compressing with mapunexplore script to possibly get file down to under 1 Gb.

Dont worry about your things and buildings, the script saves blocks with cobble torch chest wood tracks stonebrick etc.

I am working on a lighter version of circular saw, such as craftable stairs and slopes.

I removed all mob spawning for a total rework.
I removed as many itemframes from tutorial tower and shop to increase performance, I am considering moving the shop and other buildings to have a bigger spawn and less images to load.

Special ores from es mod will be reset and implemented as map is running again.

Permanent removal of all mapgen mods such as ruins, mines, pathv6alt, more trees possible with alias to swap all wood nodes.

Most of the behind the scenes work will take some time so please be patient.

I will post updates as they happen.

tenplus1 has his stairs mod that does this without the saw

Cobwebs cleaned new widget added. TNT is bigger now only use under -150 and obey protection. May crash from time to time, but has been improved a teeny bit

Sorry for maybe stupid question, but how do I empty bucket? I click right mouse button with filled bucket, but nothing happens.

There are no problems with filling a bucket with water or lava, but releasing the liquid doesn't work.

I tried the same thing in singleplayer mode of Extreme Survival - everything works as expected.

Good question. The buckets are only able to be placed below -1 meter it is part of anti brief mod.

Re: Extreme Survival Minetest server

Back after a hiatus, wow there have been changes.... I noticed that at night stone monsters seem to swarm??

On first login I was surrounded by around 15 of them. Retreated to my house but they were so numerous they breached the first wall by pushing each other through. Retreated to inner sanctum but they glitched through that too... killed me quite a few times... and then disappeared after sunrise. One I killed even left "fresh" bones I couldn't clear till later. Guns don't work on them either?

After that I was minding my own business outside and suddenly 5 spawned in on me after sundown, I got pwned and never found my bones again....

Is this part of the new game mechanics....? It's mean.... but I do like a mobs challenge! Just wasn't expecting this one :-P
