Question: Are the ctf_map kill-nodes invisible in-game? Not so that you could place them in random places on your map for no reason other than to be mean; but so that you could do stuff like place a layer of them over lava to make the lava more dangerous but not ugly.

What your K/D will be based on what percentage of fights you win:

10% = K/D 0.11----------91% = K/D 10.1
20% = K/D 0.25----------92% = K/D 11.5
30% = K/D 0.43----------93% = K/D 13.3
40% = K/D 0.67----------94% = K/D 15.7
50% = K/D 1.00----------95% = K/D 19.0
60% = K/D 1.50----------96% = K/D 24.0
70% = K/D 2.33----------97% = K/D 32.3
80% = K/D 4.00----------98% = K/D 49.0
90% = K/D 9.00----------99% = K/D 99.0

Some fights are also never determined because one of both parties run away.
What is SCP-055 again? I forgot.

It seems that the ctf_map mod always divides the map east to west regardless of whether I choose the x axis or the z axis when I do place barriers in the ctf_map gui. Is this normal? I don't know how to fix my map rotation issues because of this.

Edit: I meant to post this on the Maps for capture the flag topic.

some tactical question:

i'm very bad at action games, and the extremly fast paced minetest combat paired with lag and other issues makes it near impossible for me to fight with swords.
it is very frustrating, and since i don't want to be the guy who gives free points and tools to the enemy team, what role can i play to support me team?

not all maps allow long range sniping (the only thing i'm good at), so what can i do on the underground tunnel map?
i noticed that we can make traps now, but how would i use them effectively?

  • Pair spikes with pits and unwalkable cobble and you can make pretty good traps
  • Make damage/reinforced cobble and build up the base with it
  • Mine for ores and deposit them in the team chest
  • Build defenses and watch around the base for enemy players

Don't worry about not being able to PvP well first try, as long as your lag isn't too drastic you'll get it eventually

    The safest trap to go for is the damage cobble on maps like tunnel as it will always hurt the player of the enemy team who has mined it. It also works as a good layer of defense and helps in killing those pesky tunnelers.
    If you want to help your team then I suggest work alongside a "pro" player and attack in groups which would have higher chances of getting kills and benefiting the team at the same time.
    As for sniping, I really don't how you manage to do it currently but hopefully in the next release of CTF (which is going to be released *hopefully* around New Year) two sniper rifles would be introduced which should put your sniping skills into action.

firefox: You can also be a base builder/guarder, who builds and protects the base. It's a *relatively* more relaxed role, but be wary of griefers. If you want be in the "happening" place instead, you can also take up the role of a medic, accompany other players into the middle of combat, and heal them when their health goes down during PvP. Or you could just team up with your teammates and fight the enemy, as MinetestSam suggested; after all, CTF is all about team-work.

Lag! Lag! Lag! I don't know what it is. Maybe it's my really poor internet, or I'm too far away from the server, or the server has too many lag-causing mods, or more than one of the above. Bottom line is there is just too much lag. I can not play anymore. ) :

I agree. Also, why are there barely any players that play anymore before the game was full all the time.
Whats the trick? I wish I knew

Where is the server located? If it turns out I am thousands of miles from where the server is then I can maybe blame it on distance but if not than it may be that there are too many lag-causing mods in the game and/or my really slow internet (and I really do have an extremely slow interned connection) is causing me to lag.

I tried out SkyWars a few days ago. I had little to no lag there and was able to pvp almost like I never have in years.
But on ctf I am lucky if my connection is working right for so much as a few minutes in an entire day. My connection is glitching fully half the time wherein I can't sprint, damage doesn't register on my screen when I'm attacked, I take 5 minutes to respawn, I can't open chests, I can hardly dig blocks or place them, and half my hits don't register some of the time. I am also lucky if I'm not experiencing freezes and lag-spicks ever 2 seconds. In short it's just unbearable.

I notice on SkyWars that when you kill someone, all there stuff instantly pops into your inventory, or it gets deleted in 1 second. And if your inventory is full then it just gets deleted instantly. So there are no dropped items on the ground on SkyWars. Maybe a feature like this would help a little on ctf? Also maybe removing lag-causing mods should be considered. Lag is probably this server's worst enemy.

My internet is currently 3 Mbps download speed and 1 Mbps upload speed. And on top of that I have about 5 other people in my house using it most of the time. I suppose I could try upgrading but I don't know if that will help.

First check to try game this server when
a) your other users are silent (no video or downloads)
b) this server is also one time full, other time empty
When still just one person using your internet and server is less people (empty, less lag), then think about the 3rd option you cant change: the internet between your connection after router and the server position. If your on another continent ... will always keep lag.
Server: still up, see some gamer - but there is a new 1st important thread "climate change" for me. Something I know since 1992 - had seen the melting glacier in Switzerland.

I tested how much internet do you need for playing minetest (when 7 players were online and it was beginning of the match):

I have 9 Mbps download speed and 3 Mbps upload speed and I usually don't have lag, but I agree, I have small lag lately although few players are playing lately.

It is KiB/s and not KB/s
As far as I know KiB/s is Kibibyte per second.

Mbps is (as far as I know) Megabit per second (1/8 MB).
