That's true, but one thing I miss from the 'old days' as I guess you could call them now, was that we used to have dedicated base builders, aka two people who'd build a well-guarded base with the materials they were given in about 3 minutes, and base guarders/commanders (one of which was me). Today bases are usually neglected and/or built by noobs, and the gameplay is usually PVP-centered.

I wish some of the base guarders from the 2015 - early 2016 days could come back.

Is changing your settings as in changing fov and fps value is allowed. my fps value is 130 its really smooth but is it an unfair advantage for other players.

your fps is not a advantage, believe me, i usually only have 30fps but can beat players with 60+ fps, its not an advantage.

Sometimes i am the dedicated builder/defender and put lots of effort into it, but then someone in my team gets flag in under 10 minutes and i feel i had wasted all my time for nothing, lol.

That's the exact reason I stopped. Less and less pros kept coming on at the same time as me, and the flag was being captured in less than 15 mins.

I don't know much about base building I like attacking or defending more. But I do sometimes repair the base when someone griefs it.

A message to all players:

Please only help when you are needed, that means if someone is fighting a player and is winning, dont finish that player off, your teammates will not thank you for taking there kills, as in essense you are stealing there score and inhibtting there k/d ratio. please only help if your teammate is losing or if its two noobs fighting, as a enemy pro will just usually come in and finish off the noob on your side, making you lose a sword sometimes (if the noob has one). no-one likes a kill stealer, so if you want your team to appreciate you, dont interfere in their kills.

Sorry, but I think this isn't the goal of this game. The time you need to decide whether your team mate needs your help or not is often simply too long. Parts of seconds are important often.

The goal of this game is not to raise your individual score, but to help your team win. And for this, it is better if someone helps you in PvP (even when unnecessary).

If everyone helps each other, the so called "kill-stealing" will be balanced in the long term.

I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everyone that the central theme of this server is team-work. When your team-mate is fighting an enemy all by themselves, you have to rush to their side without a moment's hesitation. Please stop making so much fuss over such trivial matters. I have been in that situation many times myself, but I've accepted such occurrences as part of the gameplay and don't give it too much thought. As consolation, you do get even with the 'kill-stealers' by 'stealing' their kills in turn...

TL;DR: Player rankings are just to encourage maximum participation by the players, and is not the be-all and end-all. This server encourages a no-holds barred approach to PvP, but that is just the means to capture the flag. Play well, have fun, and be involved with your team to the fullest.

Another intergral part of the game is having fun, and noone, and i mean noone, is going to have fun if there k/d ratio constantly decreases because people steal there kills yet they get the same amount of deaths. Making the player either leave, or take the fight to the enemy where their team cant interfere i.e. the enemies base where they will eventually die with there stuff after they kill the enemy base hoard, so your doing your whole team a favor by saving swords if you simply only help when needed.

id like to point out that im not making any fuss, but rather made a plee for players to be more considerate of there team-mates, and i wont steal back kills as i hate it myself. i never said player-rankings were the "end-all be-all" i simply dont like people taking my kills, it takes the sense of accomplishment away as i never finished the fight because a team-mate finished them off. is wanting to feel a sense of accomplishment while playing a game so bad? if so then this isnt the game for me.

I think the K/D ratio doesn't decrease, in contrast, it might even increase because of two reasons:

1)
Thomas-S wrote:If everyone helps each other, the so called "kill-stealing" will be balanced in the long term.
ANAND wrote:you do get even with the 'kill-stealers' by 'stealing' their kills in turn.
Please note that we both have put quotes around the word "stealing" because there is no stealing, but helping.

2)
The number of one's deaths doesn't stay the same, as you claimed, but it will decrease, as one will be rescued more often by team mates.

As I already wrote, players usually don't steal the kills because they want to improve their score, but they simply want to help their team mates. Checking if this help is really necessary simply takes too long.

Helping the team is more important than momentarily improving one's own score.
