Finally I have overhauled the taming routines so I can add as many new mobs as I want without needing to do massive maintenance :D

Migrated world to leveldb, tweaked some network settings. Should have less lag now.

Added a wiki to the server too :-)

I really like your server. Thanks for the opportunity to enjoy your work.
I'm trying to set up a zoo north-east of the Old Spawn but the ice mobs (icesnake, snow_biter) are a nuisance. They turn the world to ice and these new patches of ice are spawning grounds for new ice mobs. Unchecked, they will ultimately turn the whole world to ice. I tried using the 'Staff of Melting' to undo the damage but it doesn't always work and it's really a losing battle. I 'melted' an area of about 50 blocks wide north of my zoo and after a couple of days it was retaken by the vermin. You can put protection blocks everywhere but that shuts out other players. Maybe it would be better to limit the damage the ice mobs do. Maybe undo the damage (thaw the ice) automatically to the original blocks after some elapsed time? Just an idea...

Glad you enjoy the server :-)

Yeah I know, the ice mobs are a pain - hence the attempt at a tool. I'm sorry it didn't do enough :-(

I need to check (I am away from base) but I think I *had* ensured that ice mobs were less virulent already. I'm managing many changes so perhaps I skipped that one during a switch, I will verify.

I was intending that the reduced virulence would ensure that:

* ice mobs would propagate ice less
* sandworms would eat less sand
* stone eaters would eat less stone
* NSSM bosses would be unaffected

NSSM Bosses don't currently spawn (working on a "summoning" spawn ...)

I know a couple of players erected a wall between their farm and the nearby Ice biome, so that's one solution.... just don't make it out of ice - make it out of ice-bricks etc instead...

I'll try to sort this out as soon as I can, within the next couple of days perhaps.

Just been online. Could have sworn Ice Brick was a thing. Apparently not. Well cobblestone and dirt will do too (hey the excesses from mining can have a purpose! :-P)

I..... might have deleted some files in the wrong directory..... nothing drastic, but the server may behave oddly over the next few days....

Pretty much all mobs are now docile, so you should be able to live and build safely :-)

I'm working on a way of importing mobs from other worlds - so if you think you will want NSSM mobs, go play on NSSS, keep the eggs, and standby for crossovers!

mobs_monster:lava_flan is supposed to eat group:tree but it doesn’t seem to....

New change - killing mobs has a 1/10 chance of making them drop an egg of themselves

Placing an egg automatically makes the mob a friendly - there is no more need for the "mob tamer"

The vivarium has had a good run.... but I'm afraid the time has come to shut it down. I no longer have the time or inclination to maintain it to the extent that it deserves -- indeed, I have not had such time for quite a while. It was my first server, and a lot of bad decisions were made when first putting it together. I want to start from scratch, something tighter knit, and not completely cobbled together,

Thanks to all who played and gave great feedback and made fantastic builds -- and to NathanS21 who created the best Vivarium ever ;-)

I'll likely be doing it later today. I'll be keeping its data. If anyone wants their magnificent creation in the form of a schem file, do let me know.

MOBS WORLD - a server with tons of mobs! No matter whether they are animals, monsters or NPCs, you will be able to capture them and display them in an enclosure that you and your team will build!
On port 30001 there is an alternative server : the Not So Simple Server. It hosts just NSSM and a few basic essentials, as well as the ability to tame monsters, just like in the main Mobs World.

Most monsters and animals you will be able to handle on your own; but the hardest will be designed to be nearly impossible to defeat or capture without some additional help...!

To that effect, you are encouraged to tame all sorts of animals, NPCs and even mosnters to do battle for you, or to team up with other players. Carry ANY mob's spawn eggs and deploy them using the Mob Tamer when you need them.

All mobs can be captured with the magic lasso (might require a few tries!)

But if you just want to come build and farm - that's entirely up to you too!

NOTE :: Mobs need to be spawned as NPCs using the Mob Tamer tool to prevent them from despawning.
