Hey, unless you guys know something the rest of us don't, it's not really fair to assume JT2 has been shut down. Sorcerykid has a real life to live and a real job, perhaps she is simply very busy right now. She has put a lot of heart and soul and money in JT2, and she deserves our patience (and not rumors) while we're waiting to hear news.BBmine wrote::'( /me cries.ABJ wrote:Goodbye, Just Test 2.

Well I'm just thinking about how exactly a year ago, CleanerPro was trashing just test. So maybe it's down in honour of CleanerPro? I mean, of us fighting DirtierPro?Kibbie wrote:Hey, unless you guys know something the rest of us don't, it's not really fair to assume JT2 has been shut down. Maike, that series got me started on Minetest, but your just test vids got me pro!
Hey sorcerykid, hope you're enjoying your break from the server :D
Maike, players all over CW and JT2 are coming to my server. If you want, you can go there and I can give you interact, and you can make vids about it XD. BTW, I've shut down my test server forever. I've had enough testing minetesthosting.com :P

For those waiting for this server to come up, Worlblender's computer has just been fixed, so Noob Academy is back up! WARNING: Noob Academy only works on SOME mobile devices. Also, it will take ~10 minutes to download the media.

If and when sorcerykid comes online, we're all likely to get a good spanking. Such is my non-opinion.

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute
Hi all, sorry about by my extended absence. I've had a lot of work and family matters to attend to, and I didn't want to reach a breaking point. So I decided I had to step back from administering the server for a few days. It kind of hit me as I was completing one of the roads earlier this week, only to discover that someone had built a two-story shop directly blocking the intersection. That was not a headache I was prepared for, so I just pulled the plug because I needed time to refocus.maikerumine wrote:Exactly!Kibbie wrote:Hey, unless you guys know something the rest of us don't, it's not really fair to assume JT2 has been shut down. I'm actually using this opportunity to move the sky city and to make long overdue improvements to the rest of the public infrastructure (such as expanding the roadway and subway network further east, where most new development is occurring). I've finalized work on the new mobs and the foods as well. I'll post full details about all the additions soon.
My plan is to bring the server back online Sunday evening. Thanks to Kibbie and maikerumine for being a voice of reason :) I appreciate your understanding and patience!

ABJ, don't say stuff like that. :P
Sorcerykid is doing us all a favour to be hosting this server. She could take her time to write something stupid here, but then she wouldn't be running this server very well. Please don't be mean to sorcerykid.

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute
havn't had time to play on JT2 for some weeks and playtime will be limited in the near future due to other things happening;
so to everybody:
take all the time you need at all times needed.
and we should all know that administering a server can be a very demanding and draining job.
actually it is probably the best for anyone to take a timeout of any game now and then and among other things check that it hasn't become a serious addiction yet. That is also the reason why I prefer servers that don't force you to play regularly to keep benefits such as privs and areas. My life and probably that of many others is surely full of unscheduled things happening that might need more attention now and then or might even make internet connections a limited or difficult thing. I do for example indeed have a job that cuts me off from the internet or at least the fun part for sometimes weeks in a row.
Yes, there is life out there, outside the internet, and it is thriving and can be just as exciting and demanding.
that being said...
with the recent changes in the minetest engine concerning the sneak glitch, what is the plan on JT2 ?
(I didn't read up the whole thread so I might have missed some previous discussion here)
I use for example a lot of sneak elevators. Will we have cheap cobble ladders like those on Xanadu instead?
Or maybe some other new mods that provide some of the old sneak bug features at a reasonable cost?
I had just expanded some tunnels from the central system at -50 to the east when I was last on. Seems I need to hurry a little to bring my tunnels in the east to the layout I had planned so all is set once these connect to the central system (the gap can't be much larger than 1500 nodes :-D)
I am a little at odds with how to protect the tunnels though. Seems some squatters have built homes by hijacking some of the main tunnels I had dug. Originally I didn't want to protect them much as expanding a protected system prooves difficult when random others are supposed to contribute easily. You need to at least define places that others can connect to from outside the protected area. My hub at -500 under spawn is a project along those lines. It is lined by a protected wall of pillars that players can easily walk through while water and lava cannot.
Maybe we need some other sort of protection. For example there could be protected rails that only protect an area 3*3*3 with an offset to the top, so that the rails lay on the central bottom node. A track of these would provide a protected tunnel that others could easily connect to if the tunnel has the size of the protected area. If the area was expanded to 5*5*5, then a 3*3*3 tunnel could be made with designed walls that might include a niche at intervalls that others could use to connect their tunnels to.
anyways, hope to have some more time to play soon and hope to be able to spend much of it on JT2 ;-P

Re: [Server] Just Test Tribute
I can help with this. I couldn't get TenPlus1 on board with custom sized pro blocks so I made my own for HOMETOWN. I'd be willing to share rather then you guys having to reinvent the wheel. This is what I use to protect our roads. The radius is set to the exact edge of the road (in our case 7), but the top and bottom radius is larger to protect overhead (tunnel walls, ceilings etc.). These pros will go right over user's protected areas without complaint. And user pro overlaps can go "under" the road pro's. So users can develop right up to road edge without gaps and roads remain protected.twoelk wrote:Maybe we need some other sort of protection. Let me know if you want it, I'll clean it up and make it a "proper" mod.
