Minetest++ Server [offline]

by lkjoel » Post

Well, after big development of Minetest++ (it's still not nearly close to being done), the ultimate modded clone of minetest, I have decided to make a server. It is recommended for you to run Minetest++, but you can also use the latest git version of minetest.
Please note that I take this server down a lot to use new versions of Minetest++ or new patches I made for it. It usually comes back on within a minute.
Anyways, here is the info:

Hamachi network name: minetestpp_lkjoel
Hamachi network 2 (only if the first network is full): minetestpp_lkjoel_1
Hamachi network 3: minetestpp_lkjoel_2
Hamachi network password: Minetestpp
Version: Latest GIT of Minetest++ (you can use the latest git of Minetest too, but this may change later)
Port: 30000

If you want extra privs, ask either me (lkjoel, that's Lkjoel, not ikjoel) or jordan4ibanez.

Please report any bugs you may find!

I have quit minetest ... again. I am heavily unimpressed by both the game and the community.

I'm currently experimenting on very interesting obsidian textures (I'm terrible at GIMP lol)

You can only download the source code of it, and the source code doesn't have anything.

This is the official minetest++: https://github.com/jordan4ibanez/minetest
This is the software the server runs on (this is my fork of minetest++, and the changes will be integrated in the official minetest++): https://github.com/lkjoel/MinetestPP/
Either one should work

I do not know how to start playing on Minetest++ because theres no minetest.exe file when you download the source code.

minetest.exe -> Destination
many cpp files -> Source

If you just want to play it, download the latest Minetest++ Build from my Website: http://sfan.sf.funpic.de/minetest-builds/ 2nd Section

There is a Feature List.
A Screenshot would'nt be able to describe that

Well it reads to me like a cosmetically tweaked client with different/extra mods. But without screens i cant visualize how big of a difference it is from the official client.

Are other mods going to be (and remain) compatible?

Hmm, well all i gotta say then is, if youre going to fork the game, take it in a new direction (ex. 1/4 and 1/8 nodes, things of that sort).

otherwise you might as well write some sort of C++ modding API. Or fix things that dont work in the official client. Personally i dont care for skins, but a lot of people seem to want the carts to work.
