they don't, but, we'll need to fix that created chests can trigger things properly. Are you sure that this doesn't work? I mean, have you placed a chest, linked it, then clicked a node creator, removed the chest, and then made the node creator "recreate" the chest in the exact same spot?

I believe that should work - node creators retain mech links, but, you'll need to place them in the same location.

Oh oh, you are right ! I know now why it didn't work when i tried : i linked the chest to the next creator but my creators were creating empty chest without knowing they were linked (i thought the creator "remember" the link if i erase the empty chest, but the link has to be first for each chest and the creator has to create the linked chest...

Nevertheless, node detectors can detect the open state of a chest, as Pudding shows in his mech (and mine is also working properly).

So, do i have to change all my mech or is it not so important ? i didn't understand very well the thing about node timers. In my mech, the player needs to open the empty chest before it disappear, if he does so, the next empty chest to open is created and so on.

There's no need to do this in boxes that are already approved unless it's giving issues. If you are building new boxes, I would appreciate it if you try and replace it with direct links, since they will be more reliable and immediate....

These are a great start! The clock and magnifying glass are almost good to go already. I think the jumping guy needs to have a little platform that he jumps off or jumps to. I think the "easy" and "hard" icons are good, but I need to think about those a bit more. What's the eye one for?

The eye was another icon for hide and seek boxes, as the magnifying glass.

And for puzzle boxes, the multiple question mark make me feel more like a box not logical, with weird things to do. You can label it "puzzles", it would be clearer. Nevertheless, here is an icon i made for puzzles :

I'd like to introduce you to my work on this server that i discovered several months ago. Since then, i realized 13 boxes and i'm still working for new ones. I went on Minetest for my little boy, building things he destroyed with passion. I'm a big gamer, playing old video games, board games, escape rooms and life size games. I'm also customizing some board games and organizing some escape ones. So, this is the place where i must be !
In order to categorize my boxes, i will split 6 "+" between Puzzle, Search and Parkour categories. So, if a box has 6 + in Parkour, that doesn't mean it's a hard parcour box, it means it's only a parkour box, nothing hidden and nothing to think about unless jumps and runs.
Here is my first box :

768 - 3 little kittens lost their mittens

Image

This box was like an exercise to me in discovering some basic building concepts on ITB.
  • Puzzle : + +
  • Search : + +
  • Parkour : + +
Theme, background : a forest, a castle and a big weird building.
Difficulty : pretty easy

WANTED: box screenshots.

I'm running hopelessly behind on screenshots for the website. Submitting these is ridiculously simple and just needs to be done.

Here's the requirements for box screenshots:
  • 1920x1080
  • disable chat & UI
  • not reveal crucial parts of the box
  • ideally display a clearly recognizable box
You'll notice from the screenshots that I've posted that I usually try and catch the box number in them, but this isn't required. It should show off the box in a relatively good fashion, of course, and display the ambiance of the box without revealing too much.

Note: Please visit https://minetest.foo-projects.org/boxes.html and look at which of the boxes do not have a screenshot linked (their names appear in black instead of blue). If all the box names are in black hit ctrl-reload.

How to submit:
  1. take the screenshot!
  2. Upload it to imgur.com
  3. Obtain the *image* link. Not the 'page' link. It should look exactly like this: https://i.imgur.com/aw86yKr.jpg
  4. Extract the image hash: aw86yKr and box number (e.g. this one is 188).

    and then alternatively:
  5. submit a git pull request to https://github.com/sofar/minetest.foo-projects.org. Here's an example of an addition: https://github.com/sofar/minetest.foo-p ... c0d232b8b1

    OR
  6. Post the box number + screenshot image hash to us on IRC, or even in this forum thread. Or email. Anyway you can reach us, really.

Lol, so when Imgur goes down, so will all screenshots on your website … Nice. xD

But to be honest, I couldn't care less about the screenshots anyway. It's not important to me.

Who do you think has better (free, no bandwidth limitation) image hosting than them? No ads, infinite life of images.

If they are down, you can do without a screenshot for a few minutes. It saves me the trouble of uploading and backing them up.

Not going to. There's no value in hosting these myself. It would only increase time/cost.

GitHub hosts its images on Imgur. We'll probably have good notice if Imgur goes down.

Imgur Terms of service
Stuff not to do

If someone else might own the copyright to it, don't upload it. Don't upload gore, "hate speech" (i.e. demeaning race, gender, age, religious or sexual orientation, etc.), or material that is threatening, harassing, defamatory, or that encourages violence or crime. Don't upload illegal content such as child porn or nonconsensual ("revenge") porn. Don't hotlink to adult content or to file-sharing, gambling, torrent, warez, or Imgur rip-off sites. Don't impersonate someone else. Also, don't use Imgur to host image libraries you link to from elsewhere, content for your website, advertising, avatars, or anything else that turns us into your content delivery network. If you do – and we will be the judge – or if you do anything illegal, in addition to any other legal rights we may have, we will ban you along with the site you're hotlinking from, delete all your images, report you to the authorities if necessary, and prevent you from viewing any images hosted on Imgur.com. We mean it.
TL;DR: Imgur don't want you to use their service to host the images for your website. GitHub on the other hand specifically offer a service (GitHub Pages, which you're already using) that lets you host a small website in relation to your open-source projects. You are seriously risking losing all the images along with your imgur account (and any other content that you've posted from that account). You might also be putting other people's imgur accounts at risk if you're asking them to upload the images for you and The Algorithm decides that they're colluding with you when you get caught.

Don't care. I doubt they will take action against the 30 image hits they get. If they do, it's easy enough to recreate them. The convenience is more than worth it. Nothing of value is lost at no cost to me if they stop this.

If I get the idea that the image hosting of screenshots becomes a wildly popular thing and thousands of people spend their time looking at screenshots instead of playing on the server, then I might just take it all down myself.

This box should be banned (At least from the Master Series) lol. It does the opposite of making you use your brain

I believe that it is in the top 10 boxes last time I checked. But I haven't been on ITB for a while.

Nah, Terminal Trouble is fine. You need patience, but this box is at least fair.

If one box needs to be removed, it's box 786 “A stone's throw, but you shouldn't”. This is the most awful experience I ever had in ITB. I would have given it 1 star so hard, but I still failed to complete it, so I cannot rate it. :-(

Most boxes are good or great, however.

I was going at top speed, that box was an hour's worth of the same thing over and over again. All I did was walk, there was no brain power required other than a *really* good memory.
It's also hard to have a good time or enjoy the decorations or read the story when you're repeating a room number in your head over and over again
I had to open up a notepad and record all of the rooms I came across on my second (and last) try (On the first try I lost my room number when I was halfway through, I was about an hour in IIRC so I just gave up).
Players shouldn't need to use a notepad, screenshot tool, or calculator throughout the entire box
