[Server] Celines Wildes Thailand (crash, backup and back)

server itself rebooted at 06:20,
back from shower realized, did the backup
and restarted, worlds are back

so far, for now I have following list of issues need so solve frist
    1. - flying Items
    2. - some last mods
    3. - workbench issue (crash)

most crash reasons so far:
    1. - workbench = 4 (edited) ... maybe related to Formspec in mod not showing up.
    2. - coredump = 3 (edited)
    3. - server reboot itself = 1
    4. - connection timed out = 1
    5. - max gamer reached (but now one there) = 1

edit: 27.06.
MTServer crash with workbench 23:14 (18:14)
restarted 02:04 (21:04)

compared xdecor here on server and available on download, seams to be a newer one there, so downloaded and replaced, get active next restart ...

    xban cleared
    mods moved to also worldmods folders (hec_*)
    changes xpanes, as of workbench
    fixed as of mods moved ...
restarted, no error or mistake more then before ...
restarted again 9:30 - as missing farming

13:11 - MTS crash (core dump)
14:00 restarted

    * deleted the sound of dungeons monster as it sounds to strong to an not allowed speech, and connect to darkest times of history.
    * for next start activcated fish
    * for next start activated give_initial_stuff, testing - then ir work take down start building support

after 50 hours of no crash,
had to stop to do backup 06:05
restarted about 20 minutes later

* xban cleaned up
* hope "give initial stuff" works - it doesn't yet . hmm

seams updating xdecor worked it out (crashes)

after another 45 hours of no crash,
had to stop to do backup 04:25 (16.2 GB sqlite + files + mods + logs)
restarted about 20 minutes later

* still "give initial stuff" doesn't works - but no time until friday
* xdecor also included chandelier (Kronleuchter) also fixed

I apologies for this 5 days not present on the server.
My Sponsor and Teamrider Cycling was killed on his bicycle Sunday (1.7.) about 10am from a truck. I am involved into the ceremony and help out until Friday.
Server i check 3 times a day, so should keep running.

a crash at 01.13 local time - arrow signs
restarted 5:10
will search later what created it (Zwurgel had that bad luck)

04.07. 18:30 - server manual stopped, backup, restarted und MTS started
not sure if there is a problem with login, as i couldn't do with an child account from the school

got the data from Hectic
have to check the crash making mod first

edit: 10.07.
encrypted the Hectic files
* set his areas.dat into original WL word, works there are there ,,, ... but many other problems, and doesn't like to get open by edit in original ... BUT need that to merge old areas and areas from Celine in Thailand City, also Spawn 5 ...
* set fixed_map_seed to 0815, seamed have worked in "Celines Wildes Land"
* "Wildes Land Original" also now old age of 1.8y, also have been taken
* TalkLounge new Mod "euban" is active, used IP Ranges, and also DSGVO fixed (save only 3 octs)
* mod areas enlarged about the outer pos problem

Some things
* I am busy with another thing for 4 days more
* As I want to take part at an bicycle race from 20.-23.10. I need to train/exercise, so when no rain I will be on a bike, when rain I am here
* Web-server drives me crazy ... And As this is a help, no a must work, I do it slow, but for sure right (I hope) mean a lot of reading about, how ...

no connest into server after 21:30, saw it 3:30 my time - no idea why, but the connection settings make problems, have to set it to 100 noauto ... don't get good running drivers
backup done
server restarted

hand also with the webserver, ftp doesn't like now ... sad days

edit: 15.07. no connection again,
my next priority
did backup, and restarted ...
will go on this after cycling

the old areas_dat version, canbt be just copied into the newer file ... so it looks have to do it be hand. Oh that will take long time ...
but some of the old auth.txt data Players are in now also

edit: 18:07, after 0:30
as a thunderstorm hit some electric cable we was of any light from 18:30 until 0:30 local time (13:30-19:30 GER) ...
server is back
(but better just no electric then a tree on the roof or else)

so Port changed to 30001,
as I hope to solve another Problem made the server unrechable as port did get in other use during the server was running, no idea way ... so testing this port,
is similar to this Connection timeout in my own server!

and server is most down from now, to find the problem with the flying items

and first result:
* after false all mods: all mods the items drop like they should ... !!!!
* after enable (move mods back to worldmods folder) all of them, still drops like it should !
... continue with the other mods, one by one ... oh yeah
* am very closed - yes it is the nametag for animals,
but activate all rest now first ...

OK, Result - Items drop normal to floor without the [Mod] Nametag [1.0 alpha] [nametag]

* I am sorry we all have to set in again the items to the frames ... they are gone lost. they drop out when hit, fall and just put them in again,
* i deactivated all water and sky mobs, they got too much, no use for, and a lot of lag
* hunger does not work now, even i have the original file back, just without nametag,

and yet no idea why, way try to fall back to backup 30 hours ago ... thinking
the mod pipeworks also updated, same ... server loading, and fail with the error above

the backup from 30 hours ago shows same behavior ... server down, i have to think, and search

so, after some Lunch rest I commented one line (353) out, and funny this line was with a "velocity" parameter.

Server is on, but I have not yet any idea what will run wrong with that missing line.

a own new forum is activated, more detailed information about server things:

after 2 crashes yesterday caused be editing an arrow_sign

Backup done local time 07:30
* updates arrow_signs to new version,
* updates euban to new version
* new mod sign_libs - testing
Server back since 7:50

after a view backups, 2 crashes the server runs nice ...

as most of minor topics are now in own forum,

just updates some:
* animals mobs lua, as reducing the chance, and let birds and other on the dirt die during dayligt ... and server got faster

* also updated and self programmed further the no_guests, as no login is best for server performance,

* also added an euban ban issue/reason ..." too much useless logins", gamers so times out fast without getting into the game - so just make sure can't try it anymore

after a week of work

during the week go the lagcheck, as running - not like profiler
i could get back to lag under 0.2 - as
* removing unnecessary machines, too much, not needed or not seen players
* change settings of moretrees, vines and some more ...

* also no_guests also better blocking a lot of useless "3" and "2" diggit logins

server is alive, and fast with technic and mobs

so there is another Sunday and crashes now are mainly depending on OOM (Out of Memory) as using from the mods.

The lag stays during still times under 0.2
and some more settings depending moretrees, vines have bin set to low them more down ...

a script is starting MTS now, and check every 10 sec to restart if needed (VanessaE) - have to see if it works

seams some build too much technic things ...
will check that after that time,

also think about to change game server, after tested a smaller one, less energy, and still fast enough ...

main memory updates from 16 to 24 GB = faster copy and packing the backup.

backups new,
some animals are deactivated

a new mod deletes automatic Unknown Items, when they are defined to (vines and some animals)

several backups yet,

but tonight server reset self,
so backup in the morning again,
try to vacuum database,

before deactivated 2 switching stations of gamers not there,
off a breaker as chest behind is full
= a lot of useless work is off now

but as technic is still most using cpu (lagcheck) after just restart server, have to search some more (not used or useless mashines).

server will come back, have to wait the optimation progress

so far, seams the clock was NOT the problem, i still have near 2 lag near spawn ... searching

backup again,
and from last night until lunchtime a lot of trys to get the sqlite3 with some other parameters: PRAGMA
* temp_store MEMORY
* Journal MEMORY
* Synchro to 1 normal
* locking to Exclusive
* cache_size to 4096
* page_size to 4096
as theese settings seam to be a boost of speed for it.

When using Sqlite DB Manager, each change takes about 4 hours running, plus another 4 hours vacuum - but change is not persistant.

Using sglite3 command line it get
* temp_store, synchronise, and cache_size ... set for some time.
Need to see later, which have been kept persitant.

Nearby I checked some chests (player files) about strange thinkings (as also a gamer have stolen all my armor from LOCKED standings) ... and found Xgln... with items not only 99, even with 65525 of it !
So guess cheat app - and banned.

Server is back since a fow hours,
and mainly my cleanup from technic, let it get back to 0.3 lag some time.

So have a peacefull christmas ...

ah by the way, the server got now all 8 GB Ram pices , using 32 GB ... not realy needed for the 20 GB map, but good for the backups, faster.

now with 32 GB of RAM,
and changed ubuntu settings using RAM as cache (80% instead of normal 20%) i reach now near 7 GB using RAM. So it works so far - but the OOM crashes nearly every 24 hours destroy all the cached advantage.

I try now that mod, listed in the thread above.

After last electricity down 5 hours, did backup,
now also some other cpu using things off and see if it works faster.

But even including monsters, animals and technic ... lag still under 0.4 - but as every one uses it ... will get bad with the time.

After realize there is no real mention to get rid of this free clone, cheating mobile apps,

after realize, that there will be now way just to migrate a 0.4.x server with all mods to 5.x server

I will stop every failure search, upgrade and anything.

The server will be running like it is now,
mods that fail will just be stopped, and if it comes true, that clients 5.0 cant login, some day it will be gone.

I after todays new knowledge about 5.0 and other versions can, I see no matter why spend any more minute to support and work on it, as it will be lost for sure soon.

Just remember the much work of migrate old Wildes Land, and for what ... just 2 gamer still there of about 50 before, but 20 of them had wishes to make running, and then, didn't come --- so I will not do that mistake again.

Keep have fun as long you can.

You can upgrade a 0.4.x server to 5.x. Players also need to upgrade to 5.0 clients to play on 5.0 servers, but nothing on the server will get lost. If they can't upgrade for any reason, just stay on 0.4.x until you are sure they can. Nothing forces you to upgrade the first day 5.0 is released.

If you have mods that need updating for 5.0 (not many mods should need this), ask for help. No one wants to lose mods so there will be people interested in updating any that need it.

as long i cant proof and test the upgrade - I don't believe, nothing is proofed

as 5.0 still in dev, cant test real, and sure not under windows (need to pay and expensive spying software)

my clients are not the problem, as 60% of them I visit them and prepare there PCs myself

it IS possible to log with 5.0 Client Win-64 into 0.4 Server, i just did today ... but not the .net version

yes I will wait long time, and see if there is still someone playing, that it would make all that work worth.

just found another old mod that i just enabled, and will see if it works - mean mobile app users gone.

and when I already see, that mods are not "signed" in the Topic now, if still only 0.4.x save, or 5.x ready, and have to open thread first to know it ... you really thing that will be funny searching???

Have you banned the player (including by IP address) who is giving you problems?

I am very sorry, I don't fully understand your issues with testing 5.0, but I do (almost) all my testing under Windows and have never had a problem.

Either way, you should not worry about moving to 5.0 until it is officially released.
