mhh, guessing

the server minetest.conf need to be configured to
* ip of the exit of VPN, mean other side where you exit (what is shown then at game, and people can connect to)
* one of that ports if possible, but not the 443 as reserved

and if the VPN ends at the Minetestserver it should work, but you need outside people to test,

if VPN ends at Router you need to config portforward (5555) to the IP address of the mashine runs the MTS

never had like this. Why need VPN or want to use it ?

Hosting a server using a VPN can be complex because of how VPNs handle port forwarding and IP addresses. That's why I shifted to using proxies. Proxies provided me with the flexibility and control I needed, particularly with port configurations and IP management – tasks that were a headache with a VPN. Also, it's easier to ensure your proxy is up to snuff. I regularly use a proxy checker, a free online tool that validates the proxy. It's a handy way to ensure your proxy setup is optimal for whatever server or service you're running.

You will not be able to host a Minetest server from a consumer VPN. You are effectively behind another layer of CGNAT, and will not be able to port forward anything through the VPN.

Some VPN providers allowing a form of port forwarding through the service, but it's not straightforward.

If you're looking to do something like hide your IP while having a server at home, you are better off having your own VPS to use for the purpose of a reverse proxy, like Self-hosted gateway.
