Hey guys,
I want to play on a local server with my friend but i cant figure it out how to do that

Can somebody explain me HOW to CREATE and HOW to JOIN a LOCAL Server?

I also looked at the topic how to create a server but thats only a online server.

You go to the advance tab and to host it you fill out the name and port. Leave the address blank. Your friend has to put in your IP address.

I tried that with two of my computers.
The Server Creation worked but the second Computer couldn't join.

you may need to forward your ports.

As of 0.4.4- The fields under the multiplayer tab are - Name : and Password : and then Address : and Port :
I can't join any server. What do I enter in the Name and Password field? The account details of this forum?

You use whatever name and password each server admin agrees to. Each server out in the wild has its own players list, so whatever you use on one server won't necessarily be right for another.

Usually user/pass can be anything you want.

There are only a few servers that relate to these forums, and even then it's more a matter of "register an account on the forums before you can have privs on server xxxx" than using a particular user/pass.

Name: The name you choose to use ingame
Password: A password you choose to prevent other people playing under your Name
Adress: The internet adres of the server
Port: The number through which the server allows you to connect (at least I guess it is, didn't look it up)

Name and password are you choice, Adresses and ports of server you have to look up under servers, on the minetest.net page or use this sticky post: http://servers.minetest.ru/ (they are both mentioned under adress)

A local server is basically the same thing as an online server, just all the players are on the same network, so you don't need to port-forward and you use your private IP address rather then your public one.

If i was any help your welcome. If not your welcome on behalf of everyone that did help. Also have fun i love it when my sister plays with me. Maybe try some lets play with you freind since you guys could be in the same room and talk with each other and on the recorder easily.
