Nope, your client receives the textures from the server and the server tells your client what it has to do with them.
Look, I programmed a bug for you. >> Mod Search Engine << - Mods by Krock - DuckDuckGo mod search bang: !mtmod <keyword here>

Hi Craigy / all,

Great server, am enjoying building on it, trying out all of the different blocks.

Am currently working on 'The Hovercraft Tower' after having 'completed' the Beach Club (will continually upgrade it though!) and nearly completed my 'Laboratoires Hovercraft'.

The latter I will upgrade with locked ovens for me, then remove the steel doors and will then add more community tools so there's something for visitors to use whilst they're looking around.

Useful info

I read about the hammer in one of the mods threads - use it to smash metal lumps, then use the dust to get increased ingots (not tried this yet!)

Saw - use this to get more wood blocks out of a tree (again, not used!)

Something I stumbled across for making more wool was this little trick ;):

Cut up a woollen block with a circular saw (into as many pieces per block as possible!)
Then use this fragments with a dye of your choice to make - guess what, MORE complete woollen blocks again!
Repeat, repeat, repeat, etc

= self-replicating wool, as long as you have plenty of dye......

I tried this last night to make violet carpets for my tower - don't know how long you can repeat this cycle for though :D

Hi Bob!
Glad to see you are enjoying the server :)
I took a couple screenshots of your builds:

I'm sure those tips will be helpful for people! As for the wool, that must be a bug, whether or not I know how to fix it is another question. But I will probably keep it as it is as people are sometimes quite short on wool.

Noo! Don't fix the wool bug, I need wool for a future plan..

Thanks for the screenshots, good to see the builds online!

I've been looking at the builds people have been putting up on Minetest and Minecraft - some are simply mindblowing, and must take a long time in sheer planning before they're built...

My next plan is to build a large communal farm somewhere on the city outskirts (with my own private field, obviously ;D) to address the wool shortage - I know there's a chap down the street from me with his own private cotton patch, but I'm thinking bigger, including:

Cacti (which grow on sand)
Deciduous Trees (you can't use jungle sticks to make any tools for example! Only fences and for burning it seems - a bug perhaps?)
Wheat
Cotton

Do flowers spread automatically if you plant a few to get them started?

Small favour: could you put in a TravelNet box to a (normal) forest region (on the 'Resource' net), I find I get short of normal wood....

Of course. Ill leave the wool bug, seems quite useful actually.

The farm sounds like a cool idea and the jungle stick bug has been fixed :) You can now craft tools from jungle sticks!

Flowers just grow naturally in dirt every so often. They do not grown when other flowers are near them necessarily.

Ill get a travelnet to a forest sorted now.

Thanks Sokomine - they're some of my first builds - I'm practicing using part blocks (made using the circular saw) to make the walls less flat etc and adding highlights - these I'm building as I go along but I've got a couple of BIG plans I'm drawing up using OpenOffice Draw etc.

That sounds very promising, Bob Hovercraft. Minetest lacks a bit in this area - everybody builds just as good as he/she can, and people too seldom talk about how buildings might be improved. So you usually get either...huts...that would be teared down in slums by disgusted inhabitants, houses of the ok persuasion, or extemly impressive constructions.

Well, I know it takes time to build things on the server, and we all have things to do elsewhere ;) I would hope!

I like the communal hall on Craig's server, as well as the industrial building where you can learn how to use the features of the mod - all close to spawn and protected from griefers.

With the mods, Minetest has the potential to be almost limitless - a true 'sandbox' - and this (someone who's been brought up on linear games) is the most attractive element of it.

What you can imagine, you can build, and share! (technically, what you can convert into 8-bit images you can build on Minetest, using coloured wool and the original image as a grid-map)...... looking forward to doing some of that....

200 block high Sonic the Hedgehog anyone? Someone online has done some awesome 8-bit conversions of Half Life 2, Breaking Bad etc...

Craig, can we put a 'sculpture park' in somewhere? with marked plots of different sizes?

I've got to focus on what I'm already building though - otherwise there'll be half-builds everywhere...

Sculpture Park sounds good. Not sure where we could put it though. Got any ideas?

I added a forest travelnet now. So you can teleport to a place to get lots of wood. I just hope people replant it all!
