Hi jonb123,

You will need to compile the game from the source to get the minetestserver.

Unless you can find one already compiled I tend to just compile from source so I'm not sure if one has already been compiled for ubuntu and available for download.

You can find the source and the instructions to compile here: https://github.com/celeron55/minetest

I think I should update that wiki page as it does give across the impression that the server already exists by default which it doesn't, I did just copy that page from the official wiki and was meaning to edit it anyway.

Why should you change your ip address? Your friend just connects to your address (find out what is it in this page).

You probably won't be able to use port 80 without some tinkering as by default its reserved for hypertext transfer protocol (HTTP).

Your best just opening the default MT port (30000) you will have to open this in your firewall rules, or just use a service like remobo or whatever that should do it for you.
