Screw them, you do awesome work and you know it. Just ignore them and refuse to interact with them. I do the same with some people here on the forums and it works wonderfully for me.

Thanks for your great work! I hope you stay around to maintain this great mod of your’s when it comes to security problems or incompatibility issues with future versions.

This is not the place to bring and fight out Discord drama. It is jp's decision to stop working on his mods and other contributions.

If you want to (continue to) discuss events that happen somewhere else, you can do so in the Offtopic forum. On-topic posts are of course still welcome in this thread.

I measured a "problem":
restart server "Asia Thailand" with just the difference crafting guide on and off, sure after that result its off now ...
craftguide (762c166/21.06.2020)
without crafting guide : 5 sec wait + 2:05 load + 5 sec open = after 2:20 can login
with mod crafting guide : 5 + 4:53 + 5 = 5:03 ==> craftguide off

Use the setting to disable MoreBlocks from appearing in creative or the craft guide. I forget the name, but it's in All Settings / settingtypes.txt

Use the setting to disable MoreBlocks from appearing in creative or the craft guide. I forget the name, but it's in All Settings / settingtypes.txt

Code: Select all

moreblocks.stairsplus_in_creative_inventory (Display Stairs+ nodes in creative inventory) bool true
is set false now, I will check that for other mods also, and test some days later

add for following post:
[Mod] craftguide (762c166/21.06.2020), https://github.com/minetest-mods/craftguide,
file settingtypes: line 12 possible

Code: Select all

craftguide_autocache (Auto-caching of recipes) bool true
to "false" also to stop it for all of them ?

[Mod] moreblocks (f8314c3/07.06.2020), https://github.com/minetest-mods/moreblocks.
file settingtypes.txt : line 3

Code: Select all

moreblocks.stairsplus_in_creative_inventory (Display Stairs+ nodes in creative inventory) bool true
to false

but still crafting guide off, no fun for testing this days

There is no such setting in the current minetest-mods/craftguide/settingtypes.txt and the text "moreblocks" is not present in the mod. What should a player be doing?

New release: [Mod] Crafting Guide [1.14] [craftguide]

by jp » Post

Update: craftguide 1.14 released!

I am happy to announce the release of this new major version (only runs with Minetest 5.3 and above). Changelog:
  • Many UI improvements. The UI shows a header (the item description and the "technical" item string), along with displaying a rotating item (you must enable inventory_items_animations in minetest.conf). Also the few strings in the UI are better positioned with the buttons (especially if you're german).
  • A greatly optimized mod loading. All recipes from Dreambuilder are now cached in less than a second.
  • Many bugfixes and cleanups.
The next big plans are on this TODO list.
  • I plan to display the recipes directly on the sign when PR 10003 is merged, to avoid looking back into the UI to remember a recipe.
  • I also need PR 9755 to make a proper positioning of strings in the UI.
  • And of course PR 8679 to add fast keybindings to the UI.
All of this only mainly depend on the laziness of the core-devs.

Update: craftguide 1.14.1 released!

This is a bugfixes & polishes release, and an important one.

Note: the UI will look a bit better if you're using Minetest 5.4-dev.

Can you clarify? Where it should be translated exactly? Normally it's already the case.

Nothing is translated in the top right where the large item name of the item is shown even if the item is translated. This happens for anything. Minetest 5.3.0 with Minetest Game. No “3rd party mods” enabled.

Wait a second, when did Git decide to silently fail on git pull? Local was diverted by 60 commits, lol :D Even though I did not change anything on local Git thought local was changed and silently refused to merge init.lua to the supposedly changed local version within my mods update script …

Sorry, everything works fine :)

I do force-push quite often, yes. But I am surprised that it prevents from pulling. Maybe better to take the .zip directly then.

I guess, this is what force-pushes do. I did this and now it seems to properly pull again (I guess, until you force-push the next time *g*)

Code: Select all

git fetch --all
git reset --hard origin/master

Nah, not going to happen. I have an update script for all mods that pulls all updates for all mods at once.

Re: [Mod] Crafting Guide 2.0 preview [craftguide]

by jp » Post

The upcoming craftguide 2.0 will be released after Minetest 5.4's release.

Here's the changelog so far:
  • Formspec migrated to formspec_version[4], which mean elements are properly aligned and scaled now.
  • Added an export button to craft recipes directly from the guide, if you have sufficient resources in your inventory.
  • Dropped supports for sfinv and sfinv_buttons since a (stripped-down and backward-looking) version of this mod has been added to Minetest Game. I don't feel like maintaining the support of a MTG-specific mod.
  • Mesh models are displayed inside the guide (using model[]).
  • Some minor improvements to the UI, bugs killing and added new sounds.
Give it a try: https://github.com/minetest-mods/craftguide.git (with Minetest 5.4-dev) and report any issue on the bug tracker.

FYI: sfinv isn't MTG-specific: https://content.minetest.net/packages/rubenwardy/sfinv/
It was a standalone mod before being added to MTG

Please reconsider the sfinv support.

Using crafting guide as a book only, is not what are many player looking for.
I would like to see better integration with crafting grid - like clicking on recipe would copy it to crafting grid.

No offense to rubenwardy, but I don't think sfinv is a great inventory API. It looks outdated, it's too basic, and does not comply to the modern design standards, unlike craftguide. The history has proven that sfinv has failed to export outside of the MTG sphere, or very marginally. That is why I decided to drop its support because essentially, I cannot provide an interface on-par with the "full" craftguide mode through it, and also because it's not seriously considered by game creators. And craftguide aims to be universal and widely adopted.

Historically, sfinv has been designed short after I created the creative inventory of MTG. This basic concept of a tabbed inventory sized like a chest formspec comes from me. But as of today I think it's time to replace it with a modernized inventory, with the new tools provided by the engine.

I don't see the point to copy to the grid if it's just to pick-up the items in the output slot.

sfinv works fine in my game, which I built up from scratch. It's great at what it aims to be: a simple, fast, inventory that I so far haven't hit any limitations with.

I guess if you want to move on to more complex stuff that's fair though

You are right, it needs some design update, but still, it is something like basic gui for the inventory, it is simple and easy to use.
What is the alternative?
Unified Inventory doesn't seems to be developed anymore.
Smart inventory is better, but needs some design updates as well. Sometimes too complicated.
I don't know.

There's also a sign.
My fault, I thought, I would like to integrate CG in the inventory gui.

May be something simpler, like adding your CG Book to the crafting grid tab? - it would open your default gui.

It is good for new player and kids. They can better learn how it works.

With CG 2.0 we are going to be able to craft directly from crafting guide? (saw something like that on the image) - this could be sufficient.
