[Mod] PlayMus [1.3] [playmus]

About
PlayMus adds the ability for people with the right privileges to start or stop special music within the mod's /music directory, works in multiplayer, everyone on it will hear the music!

Mod Dependencies: default (minetest_game)

Useage:

/playmus [songname]
Plays music from the /music folder within the mod, will display the song name along with who invoked this command
/stopmus
Stops the music that is playing, if any.
/configmus loop / individual / etc
Allows toggling configuration of the mod itself, will reset after each game session unless the defaults are configured (located in defaultconfig.lua)


To check if you can use this command, try "/playmus slowjam"

Both commands require the "playmus" privilege.

To Add Music:
To add your own music, enter the mod's directory, and go inside "sounds", here, you must place an ogg vorbis sound, the .ogg file must be labeled with a "mus_" before the name and extension, then once ingame, you will be able to use it!

UPDATE: 1.1
+ Added support for function in multiplayer.
* Syntax change
    - Removed /stopmus
    + added a handle for when no song is specified
    + added /playmus stop, replacing /stopmus

UPDATE: 1.2
+ Reimplemented /stopmus
+ Added /configmus, allows to configure one of these:
    1: loop -- Enables looping
    2: individual -- Enables players to play songs themselves and not have it playback to the entire server (BUGGY)
    3: showwhoplayed -- Show that someone has played a song
    4: showwhostopped -- Shows that someone has stopped a song
* Note that configmus is temporary, and are only toggles.

Couldn't you get in some sort of trouble for playing Copyrighted music on a public server?

That would definitely be silly, I doubt copyright owners would hunt servers down individually.

Actually, I was being sarcastic. Copyright is a very real and very serious matter. There are plenty of places where free music is available.
If one does wish to use music covered under copyright, they could always take the shot and contact the artist or whomever owns the copyright.
Assuming, is not worth the risk if ever caught. Laws are laws..., even on servers

shhhhhhhhh. dont tell anyone but I took the copyright challenge. May I suggest adding a UI menu that lists all available songs and to add a request pool for those who dont have the priv.

+1 It also would be nice to be able to string songs together so it is kind of like a radio setting. I also can't seem to get the loop setting to work.
