FYI - Elavotor (hyperloop:elevator_bottom) eats up front grating (techpack_stairway:grating) whenever I use and/or remove (punch) it.

Yes I know, the elevator door uses in this case the same position as grating node.
I will check what is possible.

Why does this mod have a maximumm length of 1000? I have built a massive tunnel going a mere 10 thousand blocks to connect two cities, but i will be unable to without retrofitting bends into the network.

You don't need bends. Place a junction block every few hundred blocks to bridge the 10,000 blocks.
The reason for this limitation is the increasing server lag with long lines.
