[Mod] Advanced Keys [adv_keys]

by Lejo » Sun Dec 23, 2018 14:31

This mod replaces the skeleton_key with a multiple use skeleton_key.
So you can open multiple chests with it.
It is also player specific so if you lost it nobody can access your chests.

Depends: default

You might want to be careful with using that gif, its using copyrighted materials. Read more here
Michael Jackson's estate accepted a $2.5 million in damages for misappropriation of images and lyrics.https://edition.cnn.com/2012/09/04/showbiz/michael-jackson-copyright-trial/index.html
Just trying to be helpful :)

Btw how much of an 'overlap' must happen to be able to claim 'copyright infringement'?
For example if someone write: doSomething1234 = function(arg1,arg2) and another does doSomething123 = ... is this the case already?

I don't think there are hard and fast rules, just so long as it can be established that the new work was a derivative of another original work.

On a sidenote: Years ago I used to operate an online music service. A competitor came along and decided to lift the entire terms and conditions from my site, simply replacing the name of my company with their own. I immediately wrote a cease and desist letter to their attorney. Guess what? He responded "ideas and concepts cannot be copyrighted". So, according to his faulty logic, three pages of original text composed by me is not protected by copyright as it's nothing more than an idea or concept. Talk about intellectual dishonesty :D

(Sorry for going off topic, I just wanted to share a funny story to help lighten the mood!)

Sorry for this.
Is the Licensing now correct?

The license is, but the attribution is not. Hint: it's the "hint" in my previous message.

The whole United States patent system bases on the “copyrighting” of ideas and concepts. :D

On-Topic: When it basically copies the keys mod and modifies some parts of it wouldn’t it be better to modify the mod’s items directly? Minetest API allows this.

I now copied the license.txt into my LICENSE file.
Is this correct?

""good enough""

Next time when you copy stuff from another mod, you should retain and exactly copy the attribution and license statements. Copying is encouraged, but there are requirements and the rules are not that complex. If you maintain the same license (preferred), usually you have to just copy (all) the license and attribution statements. If you don't understand, please contact me by PM and we can work it out together.
