Inspired by the mapping tools and RabbiBobs try [http://minetest.net/forum/viewtopic.php?id=2908] to let a player jump through several positions, I made this short mod to let a player jump in a spiral in 50 node steps every 5 seconds to let the terrain generator generate the map. So the map will be complete.
Just run the chat-command
/explore_start
and wait...
/explore_end
will bring you back where you started.

Useful mod, on my server the map makes the server lag when it isn't generated.
Thanks to this, I generate it once, then it won't lag again

I made a few (a lot of?) mods for minetest: here is a list.
See also the MT-Faithful texture pack (work in progress).

I really like this idea.
After this mod has run fully, run the minetestmapper_cpp to get a map of the completely generated world, have that image off to the side as you develop your creations. When you get tired of one area, look at the map and move to where ever look interesting. Add Mauvebic's "bookmarks" mod and you'll develop quick access to different areas for different builds, resources, scenery, etc.
