Riding on an ostrich is fun :-) (well, probably not to the ostrich, but who knows; guess the MT ones don't mind :-)). As to the pronounciation of mese, there's been some discussion about it and diffrent versions offered. You can find the first crystals at a depth below -64.
greenman wrote: Murdoc, that's the creeper, otherwise known as the Boombomb. Still to add to the wiki, though surviving long enough to take a screenshot will be fun!
I wonder how those survive. Blowing up isn't exactly an intelligent defense strategy. Perhaps they're the adult form of another mob and protect their offspring that way.

Well there ARE real animals that use suicide bombing as a defense strategy. But not HALF as destructive as the voxel ones though.

How do you get into the MOBF Menu that I have read about?

Use the chat command

Code: Select all

/mobf
to get to the menu and take a look :-)

Got an older version to work but get error messages and something about a conf file that cannot be replaced when in game.

I am missing a few pictures, and can always add more detail, but for now I think I've pretty much documented everything on the wiki:
http://wiki.minetest.net/Mods/MOB_Framework

Let me know if I've missed anything!

Could you make 3 versions of this pack?
1. Only peaceful
2. Only hostile
3. Both
It would really become perfect that it will satisfy everyone. Personally I am trying to put together a peaceful only mine test for children to play with.

Better Yet perhaps some smart person could make a 3 version Minetest game. I picture things set up with convention centers and other various things that could make Minetest really cool.

Final thought I believe setting up quests (search for the 12 jewels for example) might be a good idea as more purpose could be put into the game. Achievements is always a plus like that found in many Android games.

Thank you for considering my thoughts

That is a modpack, you can delete monsters or animals. Just delete its folder.
There is already achievements mod viewtopic.php?t=8754 you can add more triggers.

Hello,
I'm new to Minetest, I'm trying to add Animals modpack to existing world, but encounter few problems.
Didn't find an answer so posting it here.
When activating the mod for an existing world, I dont see any mobs. After reading around I found out that I have to check "enable secondary spawing":
1. /mobf command rarely works.
2. When it works and I check the "Enable secondary spawing" I get an error msg

"ACTION[main]: MOBF: failed to open world specific config file
17:23:17: ERROR[main]: MOBF: failed to swap old conf file to new one

3. Other errors I get when activating the mod:

12:17:16: ACTION[ServerThread]: singleplayer [127.0.0.1] joins game.
12:17:16: ACTION[ServerThread]: singleplayer joins game. List of players: singleplayer
Irrlicht log: Could not open file of texture: character.png
12:17:17: ERROR[ServerThread]: LuaEntity name "mobs:rat" not defined
12:17:17: ERROR[ServerThread]: LuaEntity name "mobs:stone_monster" not defined
12:17:17: ERROR[ServerThread]: LuaEntity name "mobs:rat" not defined
12:17:18: ERROR[ServerThread]: LuaEntity name "mobs:rat" not defined

thanks for you help

You can also simply disable mods inside the modpack. That way you can enable the hostile mobs again instead of just deleting them and having to get it again.
I test mines.

Re: [Modpack] Animals Modpack [2.4]

This is great, but a few suggestions:

Make it more of a Mods+API rather than a Modapack

Newer Textures/Models (Like from Simple_Mobs Redo and Creatures)

Perhaps removing the undead mobs in favor of Dirt/Stone/Sand or other fantasy mobs (Like the [enderfreaks])

Just suggestions, I would help in any way I can ;-)

I just upgraded to 0.4.13, and i get errors when this mod pack tries to load. I can disable the modpack and the game will load. Am I destined to starve? Will I ever eat beef again, or fish?

Here's the errors:

ModError: Failed to load and run /home/mycomputer/.minetest/mobs/animals/mobf_settings/init.lua
Error from lua:

19:44:14: ERROR[main]: mod "mobf" has unsatisfied dependencies: "adv_spawning"
19:44:14: ERROR[main]: mod "mobf_settings" has unsatisfied dependencies: "mobf"

It almost seems like a path error, but it all worked fine in 0.4.12.

Thanks. BTW I'm running Linux Mint 17 Qiana.

Looks like your missing adv_spawning, that should fix everything!

Thanks, guys, It's up and running. I had adv_spawning enabled; Here's what I did that fixed it:

In /.minetest>mods>animals>mobf_settings>init.lua I found this line:

dofile (modpath .. DIR_DELIM .. "settings_v3.lua")

I changed it to:

dofile (modpath .. DIR_DELIM .. "settings_v2.lua")

and that made the maps load and run that would not after the upgrade to 0.4.13.

Another question: How do I increase the number of spawns for a specific animal.

I've been messing with the blue_white_fish init.lua file, changing the group population density, the spawn interval, and the number of spawns per interval, but nothing seems to work. Does it also have to do with the near nodes settings?

I want lots of fish! :)

thanks.

this is what i get , map / server wont load .

i tried the above fix and changing it to

dofile (modpath .. DIR_DELIM .. "settings_v2.lua") , by DEFAULT it was dofile (modpath .. DIR_DELIM .. "settings_v1.lua")

but nothing seems to work , so any help would be appreciated .-.

Hi upsetkiller,

Not sure if you resolved your issue, but I had a similar issue and I copied from minetest_game the mods over my game mods so that I would have the latest default and other mods. Solved my issue to hope this advice helps.

Hi, i've used this modpack long time before when I was using fedora, but now i can not get it to run in arch linux.
This error message pops-up only when enabling "mobf-settings" inside the modpack; but without mobf-settings I can't get things to run correctly
Here is the output of debug.txt:

Code: Select all

How can I get "mobf-settings" to work?
Thank you
