Hello everyone,

this mod adds pyramids to Minetest. They are spawned randomly in deserts (only there) and kinda rare. Inside of them you can find chests with stuff, guarded by mummies which attack you and traps.

Great idea! Of course, minecraft has pyramids too. I think the next step should be to add luavoxelmanip support, and make the pyramids look nicer.

Yes excellent idea, you beat me to it i was intending to try generating large pyramids with complex passages, it will be difficult, something i might work on in future.

Im interested to see what yours will look like. Yeah, the textures look cool. Whats the license?

You should definetly continue your work on that. i will stay at small and medium sized pyramides for now ;)

Traps are planned for future versions...but not the MC way

Blockmen, the animation when the mummies get punched is so much better than the default one. They look awesome.

It's called Cushelle in the United Kingdom.
And yes, mummies should drop paper, or at least ancient wraps.

Awesome Mod!
What would I need to do to the init.lua to increase the frequency of pyramids spawning?

Update! Version 0.2 released

Changelog:
- pyramids spawning uses perlin noise
- pyramids have new look (entrance, sandstone bricks, larger room)
- mummies are spawning inside of the pyramids (hostile)

Traps are not included in this version. I decided to add them with new decorations/main room, etc... in another release.

They are dopping papyrus (so nearly paper) ;)

In version 0.2 you can lower the 17 in line 111 to spawn more pyramids. But i wouldnt recommend that...

Aw man! Mummies should rarely drop rare and I mean really rare artifacts, or just spawn a Pharaoh Mummy; who drops a really rare item.

These mummies are spooky. I saw some spawned in the desert not near a pyramid, and they were stacked up 4 high, standing on each others heads. Then the lower mummies started wandering away, but the dude on the top of the pile was levitating 4 blocks off of the ground, spinning round and round like he was on a string, and he kept on doing it. I went far away and came back and he was still doing it, with his buddies wandering into a cave. I am completely serious. I did change line 111 as you suggested to:
if math.random(0,18) < 12 then return end
but I don't think this caused that, right? I was also doing a bit of flying looking for pyramids and fast move.

Are mummies supposed to spawn outside of pyramids?

Come to think of it, I have seen flying cows and flying fish from sapier's mod after I have flown, but I've never seen them stacked on each other or spinning like tops.

Hmm...thanks for reporting. No, mummies are not supposed to spawn outside. Was there a spawner and if so was there a small mummy inside?

And no, its not related to the pyramids spawning rate ;)

Ahh, the spinning mummy was just like the one I see in the spawning blocks, but oddly enough he wasn't in a spawning block. I have also seen a bunch of mostly spawned pyramids with chunks missing. I like this feature. It's like finding a ruined pyramid and most of these have no treasure which is a good thing.

I heard the mummy growling on decent speakers, and honestly this mod wins the best mod ever. The growling is perfect for this Mod. It really is scary. Sounds totally like an angry dead pharoah. I also like finding half buried pyramids that you have to dig to find the entrance, all the while you hear the growling mummies ready to chew on your bones.
