Today's 0.4 release no longer requires Inventory Plus mod to work but will use it if available, instead the /skin command can be used to select your player texture :)

Also server admin can set custom skins by using the /setskin <player> <skin number> command. Note: custom skins are typically numbered 900 and above so the GUI does not see them for normal players to choose from...

do you think you could make this mod compatible with this mod(http://forum.minetest.net/viewtopic.p...)?

It's just that I have had to remake the buttons to hide them, It would be so good if you could! Nice mod.

I believe I've found a crash bug.

To replicate, use the /skin command to open the skin selection formspec then hold down either the up arrow or down arrow key to quickly move through all the available skins. The game crashes for me with this output.

Code: Select all

I'm new, and I have a problem: I've installed the mod and all that stuff, but Mintest's telling me there's an error. I think it's because of the name, I don't know how should I call the archive. Any name?

Make sure that the mod folder name is called 'simple_skins' and it's enabled in the mods tab, any further errors please copy and paste what it says.

The reason simple skins was made is so that no preview images were needed, only the actual skins... The player can press F7 to view themselves before changing skin to see what they look like.

I like the simple_skin simplicity but I also liked the idea from wardrobe mod to access to the menu via a wardrobe block, so I added some code adapted from wardrobe at the end of simple_skin init.lua (it use texture from wardrobe too)
I attach the file in case it could be useful
and here is the link to wardrobe mod :
viewtopic.php?f=9&t=9680

EDIT : I posted it on github and made a pull request : https://github.com/tenplus1/simple_skins/pull/2

Latest Minetest engine dev release for Windows
seems to nix all versions of the skins mods for inventory++
with nothing in the debug.txt. The game won't even start.

All other inventory++ mods work fine,
just this one causes a problem.

Unified_inventory and u_skins still work properly.

maikerimine: Simple Skins works fine with latest version of minetest but the mod security feature messes around with too many mods and causes problems so you have to disable it first... Add this line to minetest.conf:

secure.enable_security = false

Seems that security is enabled, go to minetest.conf file and add this line:

secure.enable_security = false

sfinv doesnt seem to allow the transparent formspec so you can see your character as you try on skins, that's why inventory_plus isnt required and you can use the /skin command to change your player skin when needed... Will look into it though incase something new crops up.

Lone_Wolf: the error you showed above, the line in question doesn't have a get_modpath statement in it ? are you using a fork or edited version of the mod ?

Oops. Just realized my text didn't save. I've got it all fixed now. I had gone and edited some code blindy trying to find an error I didn't understand. (Don't know anything about lua) Turns out I accidentally saved something that wasn't supposed to be there. All good now.
Also: I had to Quit&Relog into my singleplayer server for my custom skin to show.
