Um, no. I won't be adding that, either.

Sure, this mod is not fit for DreamBuilder that contains BUILDING features. But... i don`t understand for some reason Tower Crane won`t be added, although it would be very useful for so modpack.

I guess for some reason Vanessa doesn`t want to add the mods at this time. Because she is busy by adding Homedecor`s furniture and fixations. Yes?

Aside from merging some pull requests in one mod, I'm taking a short break. Since Minetest 0.4.16 just came out, I'm using this time to collect bug reports in my mods as well.

As for that cranes mod, you could just turn "fly" on when you need it, or install that mod on your own system alongside Dreambuilder.

Vane: You should create Vanesa's etcetera modpack :V. Or something like it. With npcs, mobs, and interesting stuff. It would be interesting.

Hei VanessaE,
I am running an own (local lan) sever with your dreambuilder mod. Now my players want this vehicle mod, too.
Is that compatible? You know what I would neet to do to get the existing world AND vehicles running?
It would be really cool!
Currently we are running minetest 0.4.14 and I would upgrade to 0.4.16 and your newest dreambuilder release. Can you give me some comments?

cheers,

You can add this mod by myself as Vanessa said me she is not going to add it. She is working for other mods.

I would recommend flying carpet mod. It's really fascinating - a flying carpet, but it requires mana to fly it. viewtopic.php?t=12263

I had some issues when beginning, but now I know how to use it n_n. It's better than cars.

I disagree. Maybe flying carpet is good mod, but i advise you to add vehicles or automobiles mods.

Mods that supply vehicles of one kind or another should work just fine as long as they otherwise run under Minetest 0.4.16.

Vehicles need much be in your building servers as it would be intetesting to drive on roads that made by many of players. If i would download myself and install in my servers it would not very interesting as i don`t have multiply of roads.

I used to have a cars mod on my servers. Worked well too, lots of different kinds of cars, but unfortunately players had a major problem with them: they kept leaving them scattered around, blocking roads and properties and just making a mess. It's not like there's a towing service that polices the servers, so I had no choice but to remove the mod.

It is sufficient to directly upgrade Minetest and minetest_game to 0.4.16 stable release and then upgrade Dreambuilder to the latest build. As implied by the date in the title of this post, that "latest" build is a bit old, but that's deliberate. I'll release a new build (and tag it for Minetest 0.4.16) soon-ish, but until then you can just use the current build.

From the errors you're getting, alongside Dreambuilder, it looks like you have a copy of Home Decor installed, either standalone, or as part of some other modpack. Minetest can't handle this situation - if it finds more than one copy of a mod in the global mods/ tree, it gets confused about which specific copy to load, even if you explicitly tell it (the behavior is predictable, but not intuitive).

The easiest way to solve this is to just locate and delete all copies of Home Decor except for the one in Dreambuilder. Minetest will still find and load Dreambuilder's copy.

If you so desire, you should be able to then overwrite Dreambuilder's copy of Home Decor's mods with copies fetched from the Home Decor github repository (this is actually almost exactly what I do when updating a mod in Dreambuilder anyway).

OK It seems I already did so. have done exactly this to add dreambuilder to the global mods folder.

Code: Select all

git clone https://github.com/VanessaE/dreambuilder_modpack.git ${DEST_BASE}/${MINETEST}/mods/dreambuilder_modpack

Yes, I see no tags yet in git repository of dreambuilder. That tag "0.4.16" would be a wonderful thing!

I will inspect this all tomorrow and report the outcome. Thanks alot. Dreambuilder is GREEAT!

Hei again.
Looking at the debug.txt now after a clean reinstall it starts with this errors:

Code: Select all

2017-06-11 15:33:20: WARNING[Main]: Mod name conflict detected: "farming"

  • games/minetest_game/ (the default ones): beds bucket default farming give_initial_stuff sethome tnt wool boats carts doors fire killme sfinv vessels xpanes bones creative dye flowers screwdriver stairs walls

If I compare the list of mods of dreambuilder:
Exactly each of the missing mods listed in debug.txt is NOT contained in the latest dreambuilder package, but inside the old dreambuilderpackage that I used with my minetest-0.4.14.

Maybe these should still be contained in the latest dreambuilder subgame?

Dreambuilder is a modpack, not a subgame. You must handle it like a mod/modpack and use it with minetest_game. If you have a world that used it as a subgame before, you will need to edit that world's "world.mt" file to point to minetest_game instead (change the file to read gameid = minetest at the top).

To address your mod-related errors:

* The bones, external_legacy, give_initial_stuff, legacy, and tnt mods are part of minetest_game and are out of Dreambuilder's control.

* The castle mod was turned into a modpack with several components which, taken together, are equivalent to the original singular mod.

* The colormachine mod was deleted from Dreambuilder recently (it's obsolete and doesn't work anymore anyways).

* The markers mod was deleted from Dreambuilder some time ago, replaced with a simpler protection block mod.

* The farming_plus mod was removed and replaced with "farming redo" which, by its folder name, overrides the default farming mod, and is what leads to those first three lines in your paste - ignore them, they're intentional.

To set everything right, delete Dreambuilder entirely from your install. Locate and remove all copies of it from everywhere, then fetch a fresh copy from git and put it in your global mods/ directory (e.g. $HOME/.minetest/mods/ ). Similarly, seek out and remove all copies of minetest_game, fetch a fresh copy from it's git repository, and put it in your games directory ($HOME/.minetest/games/ ).

Select a world that uses Dreambuilder, click "Configure" at the bottom of the world list. At the upper right in the next screen is a button that says either "Enable all" or "Disable all". Click it once or twice, then leave it alone once it says "Enable All" a second time. This will ensure that all mods are temporarily marked as disabled. Now, select "dreambuilder_modpack" in the list below the "Enable all" button, and click "Enable MP" at the top, left of that button.

If you have a world that used it as a subgame before, you will need to edit that world's "world.mt" file to point to minetest_game instead (change the file to read gameid = minetest at the top).
OK, I already had that. Just used that word "subgame" because it appears as subgame at http://www.minetest.net/customize/

OK, so it just happens to produce errors of missing minetest_game mods, that nontheless ARE installed there. I just will ignore this?

At the upper right in the next screen is a button that says either "Enable all" or "Disable all". Click it once or twice, then leave it alone once it says "Enable All" a second time. This will ensure that all mods are temporarily marked as disabled. Now, select "dreambuilder_modpack" in the list below the "Enable all" button, and click "Enable MP" at the top, left of that button.
This was the missing piece!
Normally I am starting my server from terminal via /bin/minetestserver --terminal --world welt2 or so.

So this time I used once minetest instead of minetestserver and started a local game, checkmark "Host Server", selecting my world, configured it like you described, save and then started it locally via "Host Server", quit. Next time I can start it as normal minetestserver job.
I still get this missing mod error messages, but now all nodes seem perfectly working. With your explanations I will happily ignore them.

I am glad to announce that my neighbourhood can now use the most recent version of minetest! (I just serve it on my computer and spread it via local LAN / WLAN.
Epic lanparties with lots of laughtering and cheering happen here! "Oh all you come and look what I have discovered!" and then folks gather around one players laptop. Minetest really is a GREAT experience for the local kids.
Some kids are more into plants and flowering and some are more this laser-mining and some master crossbow shooting. This world here is growing... soon I will test this mod vehicles. Curious how this random scattering of cars will be treated. Some wanna become police and fireguards. Currently the kids are designing a "Cities Rulebook". Yesterday one kid told me that she is writing some first stuff into a book. I did not even know, that one can write own text into this ingame minetest-books! For me it is very interesting to see how such a long lasting world develops and triggers its own group-dynamic things... )

It would be nice if in the next minetest version release, homedecor be on minetest_game mods folder.
