Hey everyone, I decided to build a small challenge for everyone called Sky Quest.

Image

A Minetest Challenge for players who enjoy Sky Block games, only this sky block is a little different. Instead of one island, there a several islands. Each island are assigned with Tasks that you must complete before bridging to the next. The tasks are pretty balanced I feel so don’t fret.

Rules:

No Cheating (flying, noclip, or commands)
No Creative-Mode
Must play with Damage Enabled
Once you fall, it’s Game Over
Don’t use blocks the task has not given you permission to use.

Let me know what you think and Enjoy...

Do you mean "noclip"? Clipping isnt something that is considered cheating.

I like it so far, have only been to the first upper island so far and then I died. I didn't know about the lava in the lower island and put wooden pallets around the base. Since everything was basically connected by them, everything went up and I fell off the island and died.

I think you should have used the singlenode mapgen as I can see land beyond the second lower level island.

Haven't thought of the singlenode mapgen, will try that when start a new map.

Also I've notice a lot people are already suggesting in the Poll to add more islands. If so, leaves some suggestions, I might nip pick the idea and recreate a different setup for a continuation of this map.

Great Idea!!!!!
But you should delete more land, when I press "R" I can see the "right" land...
The map is amazing! Thanks for that!
Please build it bigger, so it leasts longer!

Anyone know how to produce singlenode without the ground or anything under. I plan to make second map but this time I want it without land.

Put "mg_name = singlenode" in minetest.conf, it outputs air only. Then copy the islands with WE.

Thanks, I'll start with that right away. I might not copy the island from the first map. Just trying to switch things up a bit here.

Very nice map! I played it all myself, and it's fun! I recommend this to have a Part 2. :D

I'm working on it. It'll be more of an update to the first one but extended for a longer map.

would it be possible to rig a 'reset' somehow on hitting the lava. it's a pain to have to exit, delete, reload, and reenter the world everytime you make a mistake (which makes it very tempting to just fly up and continue...)
I know exiting does somewhat reset the islands, but it leaves some of the intermediate structures intact, and leaves you with all the resources, so possibly a sl cheat if you're not careful not to accumulate more.

Very minor one: Is it possible to have survival mode selected on entering the world - I keep forgetting to reset from my normal creative mode?

This is a copy I have from September 5, 2013. Enjoy if it still works in minetest. I haven't played it since.

Yes, it's dead due to Ubuntu One going fail. I forgot to retrieve it before the shutdown, so thanks LionsDen for backing it up.

You're welcome. :)

I liked it and played through it and am a packrat, I never delete anything unless I have to. Except for spam and useless emails and such. ;)
