You're right, when I sit and wait for ten minutes e.g. in Times Square, memory usage drops slowly again as map blocks get unloaded. So then this is not a memory leak, just a case of MT retaining map blocks far too long for fly mode.

It would be nice if I could set maximum RAM usage for MT in its config file and map block unloading would happen quicker when the limit is reached or exceeded. Otherwise it's very easy to exhaust available memory by flying around.

Image UPDATE -> NYC v1.5

The city is now 1950 x 1300 nodes.

List of changes :
  • Added a Train Station (+ several long rail rows).
  • Added an Highway (with gas station, bridges, rest area, toll, etc.) -> 1950 nodes of lenght !
  • Added a modern school.
  • Added a new tower & trees.
  • Fixed some missed grounds and steel doors.

  • Added a Palace of Justice.
  • Added a Steel & Tanks Industry.
  • Added a Prehistoric Museum + garden.
  • Added new buildings, garden & roads.

Image BIG UPDATE : NYC v2.0

List of changes :
  • /!\ Paramat's mapgen for NYC.
  • Added a Great Bridge above the south ocean (2000 nodes of lenght !).
  • Extended Highways + tunnels under mountains.
  • Added a Boeing 747.
  • Added a Firehouse.
  • Added new towers.

Just for your information : NYC on Nates server is an outdated version (1.4) and there is no 'interact' there.

  • 'Nether' mod fixed : the map is less consuming for the computer. Download link updated (v2.0b).
  • NYC v2.0 is now playable online (minetest.org:30019 - fast server !) : viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9667

Image Quick Updates (download link updated -> v2.0c).
  • Fixed some missed nodes here and there...
  • Removed big water columns who fells under the city (-> less CPU usage).
  • Updated / added some mods.

I love this map I got it and said to my brother look at what I built in about 10 minutes and he went WorldEdit? And I said nope I have super hands lol, But I will be using this map a lot.

Thanks for the big map. I collected many ideas for the next city-area at my Karsthafen map and it's fun to run arround at the map.
But why is the Ship in a big swimming pool and not in the sea?
I hope, this map is getting bigger and bigger... The biggest City ever?

Yes, it may seems a bit strange now, but NYC v1.0 (before the mapgen - singlenode mode) had no sea. I had to create an artificial water zone for place the ferry.

For have visited alot of MT/MC maps, I believe (but not sure) that NYC is one of biggest city ever made of all sandbox games.

In this update, a set of Emirates Towers were added, which ironically do not exist in New York. I was surprised to see them in the screenies, as I have lived in Dubai for a long time, and that is where they are supposed to be haha.

I know and there are some towers which are not supposed to be in NYC, but it simply adds originality to the city ;)
