This brings you some things from the 0.3 versions to the 0.4 versions

- apples are generated on mapgen
- junglegrass is generated on sand and cactus
- cactus will generate on sand nearby deserts
- four layers of dirt/sand/etc.
- dirt and grass in the entrances of caves
- desertsand in the entrances of desertcaves
- grass also growing with little light (when grass is nearby)
- uses an extra texture if you have "fancy trees" disabled (so they no more look so ugly)

This feature never existed in 0.3.x. ;)

You should add non-falling sand, and gravel.

@ Calinou
I know. But it looked different than now.

@ kaeza
Personally I like the falling gravel and sand, I even made dirt falling in my game.

In 0.3.1 (when there were no mods) sand was a decorative block just like everything else (at least for me), so I just suggested that.
I loaded up my 0.3.1 world in 0.4.4, and remembered the floor of my house (which is suspended in the air at y=50) is made of sand. I don't dare touch anything near it lol.
Anyway, I don't really care about that; just a silly suggestion :)

Update

- generating cactus on sand when desert is near by
- generate apples (just like junglegrass)
- generate desert_sand at the entrances of desert-caves

One dirt block has an ore texture attached to it.

Then install a program that can. like 7-zip. Tar files are the norm for Linux users.

or.. OR.. you could do this crazy thing... you could ZIP files!

Which happen to be somewhat standard across OSs

Zip files are just the only archive format Windows Explorer supports; that's the only reason it's a pseudo-standard for anything. Tar files are very traditional for Unix systems (e.g. GNU/Linux, BSD, Mac OS X), and I can't think of a single OS that isn't Windows or designed for mobile phones that doesn't natively support tar files, among other archive formats.

I think every Windows user should... switch to GNU/Linux, but if you are going to stay with Windows, you should at least install 7-Zip, especially now that it's getting more popular to use the much more efficient 7z format.

Yeah, but zip is supported on Lin/Osx.

I run Ubuntu on two computers, both of which are old and cannot access the internet (hardware problem)

I run windows on my half-decent work computer, not owned by me.

yeah, zip is in fact supported by the unzip tool found on linux BUT its bad, realy, it uses way too much time for its compression-ratio, allso its encryption is weak.
you should better use .7z if you are on windows

From what I hear, not all Linux distributions support .zip. Mine does, but some don't.

Let people have 2-3 kinds of archives and that'll do ;)
There was a discussion already and it proved that there are no bad formats, but people used to use some of them.
Zip + 7z + tarball probably is the best idea.
