Important to know is

• What operating system you are using
• which Minetest version you have
• whether you can call other servers
• what the error message is (if any)
• if you can play MineClone2 locally (the server should transfer the game, so you don't need to have it installed)

So I set up a MTG engine and game 5.7.0 only server for some basic test.

mtg.minetest.one:30006 pwd 'Horka'

the mtg.minetest.one might not be ready for right ip, so you can use also
server.minetest.one:30006

Internal I was able to join and set a diamond block near the spawn I had (not set)
And I can see the server in the list.

Give back basic the
* fps (at spawn, and maybe dig in or use the tunnel I might dig and fps inside again)

then you all might get some ideas about what the server can have for more mods (blocks)

minetest config is most empty but speed settings are on,
world.mt is empty - no further mods loaded : so far 33 mods shown (basic, mtg) and even that could be reduced if too laggy and not needed

* player_api : 63.8 % - can't avoid
* default : 34.1 % - with ABM grass spread and grass covered 50% in there (can maybe stopped to lower lag)
* fire : 3 % - can be turned off
* xpanes : 0.2 %
* sfinv : 0.2 % (another inv is not the problem)
* flower : 0.1 % - could be turned of as all farming
* all other : 0.0 yet


result test server as user/client:
* rtt 1 ms (short max 15) as my own network
* /server max_lag 0.098 ms during I am in - should be possible 0.033 ms if no movement
* fps 60, could be 120 at my unit

* sure need some more block mods
* depend on /profiler can false like lava to obsidian lag, farming if needed

I let it run during the night (13 Watt AIO) - gave you both interact for further test.
So you might see what is possible, and how much of the player can use this server strength for further planing.

Wrong, you was able to shout = shout priv. Use /privs to see what you have and stop posting wrong results.
Yes, I saw your login, but after 2 minutes in you should have responded also some data like fps on at least two spots ...
I was short in now and gave you interact, as everyone should test also working conditions (dig and build a bit).

I wanna help special Horka to know what server specs might be needed, but just to tell it works well is a bit low from all here yet.

Ok, so far 2 things can be fixed:
* even this 2 Thread, 2 GHz, and only 4 GB DDR3 RAM hardware seam to work for 2 player in same time yet
* the idea only engine and mtg game seam to help with low lag and handle for low units

but you (as Team) need to know 2 more things
* how this low server and mods will work if you are in with at least 5 player at same time
* what well used mods on many server are need for good build as well

So then that configuration with maybe 3 more block mods and 5 player in same time might give the final hint it that is enough to play nice.

* compare to lag impact on my main server
* problem of using RAM, maybe cause client to stop load

The test server player and auth database have been deleted,
thanks to Freelancer, used Thailand account under same IP as of not changes password
and another low IQ player placed a lot of carts on a short track.

So with that behavior I would not take that both player in a team as I see now serious work, testing or answers.
Mean if I setup a server ... those both will not be allowed to join = as proofed to make trouble.

Beside with 4 own player login, located nearby I got 66 ms server_lag.

so I am very near to quit that test,
and hope serious answers will be placed here ONLY next few days.

Beside I don't see why that is needed,
if real server using flat mapgen ...
I don't see that you are able to handle it, and might destroy your full team result in seconds
world-edit also has an deep impact on server and client.

And for sure, if you get a 'contract' for a real server build, the admin will not give anyone that priv.
= A building team might have to work with what is available there : creative and maybe fly

This server would crash so far I know from the usage on my main strong ! server.

If you have an own server admin, that makes a backup every main result to make sure nothing is lost, another thing, but the admin would have a lot of work.

On THIS TEST SERVER that is not needed or implemented as after a week I can shut it down,
as
Horka
will have enough results and hints, what server might be needed.

And as you are also on my main server playing = you ARE able to join it, your also false statement that there are too much mods, or settings to crash the client login, is also proofed to be wrong.

The main test with only engine and mtg got useless, as the base was a maybe to much mods and so memory using server to crash the client. But even this basic is gone, as you are on my main server with a lot of mods also.

This used PC also has no working IDE, SATA anymore and the disc is an old via USB connected 60 GB ssd.
In that configuration it is sure NOT more than a test.

Using 13 W = 312 Wh a day and so 9.5 KWh.
At the electric price in Thailand that would be 57 Baht or kess than 1.5 Euro a month.
For Germany with maybe 40 Cent then near 4 Euro.
