Re: Minetest 5.5.0
Hi all,
I'm on Ubuntu 20.04 LTS recently and it had 5.1.1. Which was incompatible with my server and other games. Looked into upgrading minetest, but didn't have a good upgrade path within the distribution.
Just found this today: https://launchpad.net/~minetestdevs/+ar ... ntu/stable
Thank you rubenwardy.
I just went from 5.1.1 to 5.5.0 and the first thing I noticed was the improved server browser and a noticeable performance and frame-rate increase.
Thanks to all. :)

Re: Minetest 5.5.0
Strange, since the update to 5.5.0 all doors of my buildings are gone. No unknown blocks, just gone.
Re: Minetest 5.5.0
I’ve noticed the same problem with older versions of Minetest but it’s also a invisible block that prevents me from putting any new doors in that spot. It’s always one block above the ground.
I wish there was an easy way to fix that.

Re: Minetest 5.5.0
For the record: The dev version of Minetest game does have shadows. Their intensity is related to the cloud density.

Re: Minetest 5.5.0
I don't suppose we can have clouds cast shadows directly

Re: Minetest 5.5.0
I should have clarified: Cloud density is configurable (through the sky APIs). Shadow intensity is configurable as well. In MTG, the weather mod reasonably sets cloud density based on the biome you're expected to be in. A recent PR by lhofhansl tied shadow intensity to the cloud density.

Re: Minetest 5.5.0
ik, my suggestion is that the engine make it possible for clouds to cast shadows like entities do (configurable when the clouds are set for the player)

You and Danil were in my dream last night for some reason.ROllerozxa wrote: ↑Tue May 10, 2022 15:19Shadows are back in 5.6.0-dev, but opt-in now as of a recent enough commit. You will need a compatible game or a mod to enable it.
Yeet.
