Re: Minetest 0.4.12
Simply wonderful, thanks to all the devs for their work! And thanks to everyone who made this release (by contributing to minetest_game and minetest itself).
We're all looking forward for 0.5, which is announced just after this release, isn't it?
EDIT: webdesigner97 beat me ^^"... second anyway!

Beautiful. Decided to pop into the forums today (been busy lately) and we have a new version! Updated twitter

I updated the wiki for the updated Minetest subgame, not much changed.
Relevant pages: Other pages have been updated as well.
The icons are still missing.

Awesome!
This is my 1st posting here, I am new & a nuub to each and everything as I never played MC before.
Thank you - whoever created the tutorial game - this was very helpful! For now this is all I do know, but still can have a lot of fun.
Now back to playing, it is my day #2 ingame.
After a while, once I begin to understand things, I planning to contribute to the wiki.

There is no "official" build for 0.4.12 stable yet, but you can compile it for yourself.ever wrote:And Linux?

Re: Minetest 0.4.12
Any idea when the stable Ubuntu version will be out? It's kind of, well, nearing a month since the release and just some sort of communication would be appreciated. I get there may be a bunch of busy-ness and life juggling going on as it is, but you know? I'm a patient Fox and can wait for it to come out, but yeah.
Thanks for all the hard work. :) It's all awesome and much appreciated. Just would like to know what's up.

Re: Minetest 0.4.12
It takes ages for Ubuntu to add a release on their package systems. Compiling yourself is very easy, see the one line script.

We are not talking about Ubuntu's repos , we are talking about the minetest devs stable pparubenwardy wrote:It takes ages for Ubuntu to add a release on their package systems. Compiling yourself is very easy, see the one line script.
Re: Minetest 0.4.12
i was also waiting for the ppa ... but nothing happened.
compiling the source did not work for me. although the process was finished properly, i still had minetest 4.11.
then i found calinou's awesome 1-line-script: viewtopic.php?f=42&t=3837
it is easy and fully automatic. now idon't have to bother with the ppa anymore.

Re: Minetest 0.4.12
Yes, it's the PPA that I mean. :) Not the actual Ubuntu repos, haha.
I don't want to build it. (Why? That's not important.) I'm waiting for the PPA. I just would like to know what's up while I'm waiting.
If help's needed keeping up, maybe making that clear would draw in the right folks to help out. Regardless, some words would be much appreciated as opposed to the silence.

Re: Minetest 0.4.12
is there a stable 0.4.12 version that I can compile? I don't want to use unstable build. why does the Stable release ppa havent been updated yet?
Re: Minetest 0.4.12
Alright, got an update for my fellow Ubuntu stable people. :D Jumped on IRC and brought up the PPA. Some of the folks who maintain the PPA have now been contacted. Now, we just wait and see what happens next.
Seems like progress to me. :D Thanks again for the aid, est31!
------
Update: Sorry Ubuntu friends, it seems the stable PPA team is unable to keep up on the project at this point in time. It's unfortunate.
If anyone is interested and able to help with the PPA, that'd be awesome. :) Maybe someone from the unstable PPA could help out?

Re: Minetest 0.4.12
The PPA needs heavy updates due to how the 0.4.12 release was organized in the repository and none of our existing developers are willing to do it. Me included.Fox wrote:Update: Sorry Ubuntu friends, it seems the stable PPA team is unable to keep up on the project at this point in time. It's unfortunate.

If some knowledgeable Ubuntu person wants to set up a new stable-0.4 tracking branch on launchpad and configure a working build for it, contact me.
Re: Minetest 0.4.12
The PPA contains 0.4.12 builds now for 15.04(vivid), 14.10(utopic), and 14.04(trusty). As already with 0.4.11, the 12.04(precise) build doesn't work (EDIT: disabled leveldb for precise, and now 0.4.12 is also available for precise).
However, default support for utopic and vivid is new, so that you don't have to fake your version anymore. Also added those to the daily ppa.

Thanks for the posts, celeron55 and est31, and thanks to whoever took the time to get the stable version up. Much appreciated. :)
