HTTP should redirect to HTTPS, and HSTS used to enforce this. I do this on all my domains

content.minetest.net does automatically redirect to https. forum.minetest.net doesn't do that for me.

^ Same for me. I'd suggest turning on HTTPS-only in your browser as well unless you have a good reason why not to, and just go on an exception basis.

Hello.
I'm wondering if the new hosting of Minetest forum and wiki could give a security problem.
Chrome warn me each time I want to go in the minetest wiki like this

Could you fix this problem ?
Thank you

The user wiki has not been moved to the new server and is using an HTTPS certificate that has been expired. From what I can recall C55 is unable to renew certificates on the old server, so it will have to be like that until the user wiki is moved to the new server as well.

Expired certificates is not that much of an issue though, the connection is still secure between you and the server, but it'd be harder to detect a potential MITM attack.

Signatures were limited to one line because there were problems in the past with people with very long signatures, which gets annoying. Generally, I prefer it the way it is because there are many examples of forums on the web where everyone has a signature that is waaay too long, with tons of banners, images, quotes, etc., such that the average signature is longer than the average post.

Not very helpful! Even on Ctrl-F5 it still gave up early and only showed image names (title tag I think) animating instead of the actual images.

I found a small issue: When you embed text with the "icode" tag, it will still generate clickable links if it looks like an URL or an e-mail address. This does not happen with the code tag. The code tag is useful because it "kills" the clickable link if the autogenerated links don't make sense for some reason. So the same should be true for icode.

Example with icode tag (note: the example is how a Mastodon address looks like):
@user@mastodon.example

Same, but with code tag:

Code: Select all

@user@mastodon.example

I'm pretty sure phpBB's only solution to that is for you to enable the "Do not automatically parse URLs" option for your specific (entire) post. Then explicitly mark any links by using the [url] bbcode.

I don't think users can delete their accounts here themselves. It might be possible to delete the banned account entirely however.

Minetest's policy in this respect is contrary to the philosophy of a free, clear and universal Internet.

https://gdpr.eu/right-to-be-forgotten/

It is very easy to register on the sites, but not to unsubscribe. But the big sites like Instagram, Google, Yotube, Microsoft, do it. Interestingly. Another thing is that they keep data after deletion and don't say so.

Mastodon does it, Minetets as OS project should facilitate this with a simple button.

IPs are given to providers, countries by Ranges
typically there are to less IPv4 to let all users have the same address OR they want on this way to force us users to pay extra to have the same longer time (whatever ...) = they are reset mostly all 24 hours

And as this IP-Ranges are not changing just for fun, and easy to look yourself on some web pages

so to ban just that IP you used is useless as you 'guessed', and so an IP based ban should use at minimum the /24 range (= all 254 possible endings of the meant IP-address) or better the complete 'owned' range that address belongs to.
Options to remember the MAC address of the user (most then the router internet side) are also possible, but also not helping when someone uses VPN ....

A server, hosted at a service, most will keep the same IP-address as there are also possibilities to bind several domains to one address, but also the risk then all of them are blocked if one is included - so provider also avoid that.

Greetings from a former IT-security teacher at German Army.

Forgot Password is also not working, missing file - but often also Nginx not found

https://forum.minetest.net/app.php/user/forgot_password

but funny, with me logged in, it works ... haha
and now, after see this, I test again on other browser - and it works there also

nice seam to be repaired, but would have been nice to answer that problem thread also, IF the solution was wanted by a change from admin.

Sorry, I'm having absolutely nonsensical issues trying to get the spoiler tags to work. Yesterday after trying to understand what's happening by adding and editing tags I tried to remove all the spoiler bbcode tags (which were there and looked correct, but for whatever reason did absolutely nothing while other custom tags did work) and then I tried to re-add just the spoiler tag as a very minimal version which still might work. Personally, I got very mixed results. Using phpBB's "clear cache" option certainly isn't fixing posts that were already made. Maybe editing your post can fix your tags? Feel free to test and let me know how it goes.

I left out both the tspoiler tag and also didn't enable the checkbox to add the spoiler tag button to the post form, because even that seemed to have some sort of indescribable illogical effect. Good luck.

If anyone has any idea what's happening, I'm all ears. But I did all the stupid stuff already, don't bother with that.
