Re: [0.4.14] Spring Equinox release
One of the big issues for me atm is the controls and general user experience of the android client. By the looks of things this isn't going to be fixed in 0.4.14, so I'm still going to have to put up with players using multicraft on my server. I'm sort of grateful to multicraft for bringing more players in, but there are usability problems with that too. Anyway I'm going to start lobbying hard on this issue because it's causing me real headaches as a sub-game developer.
Please PM me any links if this is already being discussed somewhere.

For contributions to be considered, they need to be submitted as a PR through github.BBmine wrote:I updated xpanes adding obsidian glass panes.

Re: [0.4.14] Spring Equinox release
If you want help with submitting a PR, please ask. There are many developers who don't mind helping out interested developers who are scared of working with git. I've also taught classes in programming and trained people in using git. git and github can be scary (and hard to work with), but we're here to help, and we'll try to help if you let us.BBmine wrote:--deleted post--

I am scared to interact with y'all's projects so they all end up forks in my git. Really wish I had a better grasp on pr's because there have been bugs and fixes stuck in my git that could be merged with existing code.
FUN STUFF!

What this shader do?prof-turbo wrote:Don't forget to check tone mapping if you're new to this release ;)
Btw water now is just awesome! In 0.4.13 water has been terrible square-glitch..
Re: [0.4.14] Spring Equinox release
it greatly increases contrast and colour brightness, resulting in very interesting lighting effects.Prot wrote:What this shader do?prof-turbo wrote:Don't forget to check tone mapping if you're new to this release ;)
light is brighter, which makes snowy fields blinding (very realistic), but it also makes the night and dark places darker.
(also very realistic. especially at beaches - did you ever wander at the ocean at night? the sea is dark and the rest of the world too, only the stars shine bright and the sand faintly reflects the light, taking a pale colour.)
on certain textures, this also increases visual detail, making cobble actually look good as good as it is supposed to be ;)

Freeze is being delayed, still much work to be done.

Good call. No need to rush it.paramat wrote:Freeze is being delayed, still much work to be done.

How do I squish?MT-Modder on github wrote:Yeah...too many unrelated/unneeded changes relative to just adding the new pane. Try to keep pull requests to 1 commit, unless it's such a big change it's worth splitting up, which is rare. Either learn to squish your commits or open a new PR, although the latter isn't really recommended if you know how to squish.
I like the idea though.
Best of luck to you.
Edit: Also you might want to wait for this #946 PR to be merged otherwise you'll have to rebase/redo it again.

Re: [0.4.14] Spring Equinox release
Yeah I've been watching how much you have added to the 0.4.14 milestone in the last few.paramat wrote:Freeze is being delayed, still much work to be done.
I did consider putting out distress signals (Mayday .. mayday!!!)
Seriously, better to put out a well crafted release than to rush it. The most important thing is stability, so we will have to accept that some features won't make it in this time. Any new features not in good shape by the weekend are really going to have to be held over in favour of bug squashing or the release date will have to be pushed back further.
(^ the above is for the benefit of anyone who hasn't been watching recent developments rather than any of the devs ^)

Re: [0.4.14] Spring release, announcing feature freeze
Minetest features are semi-frozen as there is still much work to do on PRs essential for 0.4.14.
Devs are very busy with this work and are having to prioritise their time, as you may know we are understaffed.
Non-essential features will probably not be merged and less important PRs may have to wait for reviews.
No idea yet when feature freeze will be fully in effect, once it is it will be 2 weeks or more of bug hunting and fixing before release.

Once the feature freeze is officially in effect, remember to update the strings in Weblate (https://hosted.weblate.org/projects/minetest/minetest) and announce it for translators.
Currently, only German and Chinese (Taiwan) are at 100% right now.

Re: [0.4.14] Spring release, announcing feature freeze
A workaround to do this would be enabling nodes and commands to kick a player and automatically connect him to another server/port of the server. (currently not possible)SuperPantsofDoom wrote:i hope is got the ability to mod in linked worlds. for portals to another dimension
To do this properly we would need to have a way to have only one inventory in all worlds, sharing player files or similar. (afaik not possible yet)

Everything we do is available through github. Anyone can compile it and see what is being changed.JingoJagget wrote:Ohhhh. But how did people get the development version? Or do only people working on it have that version?
Re: [0.4.14] Spring release, announcing feature freeze
in linux, you can add the PPA for the dayly builds to your software sources.
then you get a new minetest every day and are always up to date.
only the default minetest_game has to be updated manually ;)
