Re: Minetest 0.4.16
I saw Nathan's video and the changes look good the mese lamps
look interesting and seem like a good solution to the underground farm problem
from the video there seems to be 3d torches although that might be a mod Nathan uses
I'll upload 4.16 tomorrow and see how many mods I use become unknown nodes lol

Re: Minetest 0.4.16
On the official Android version 0.4.16, is this actually really intended or it's a bug, or it's actually client side setting (where is it if it is)?
I could highlight node very far away... and yes I can dig them if I want, I've tried underground before taking these screenshots...
(yes, I use USB keyboard & mouse on Android)

Re: Minetest 0.4.16
I like the new progress bar, but on desktop PC it seems the texture is wrong.
Its currently 256px x 48px and looks weird when loading.
If you alter it to 256px x 32px it looks fine.
Is the current image size required for the Android version?
or am I just experiencing weirdness particular to me?

Applause!
I applaud for this big and important release!
I am very glad for the sneaking bugfixes.
A ton of cool Lua API features which will be very useful for mod and subgame development. Probably the biggest addition of Lua API features since long. I already tested the clouds API, it's really cool!
Overall, I am just very happy with this release. :-)
Minetest Game players: I have updated the Minetest Game item help mod (viewtopic.php?f=9&t=15224) for version 0.4.16.

Nope, 3d torches are part of Minetest_game since the release of 0.4.15. :)Chibi ghost wrote:...from the video there seems to be 3d torches although that might be a mod Nathan uses ...

Re: Minetest 0.4.16
Nathan I saw your video changelog. I noticed you did not mention the new book. Now when you open a book, write the title and the text, save. When you move the mouse pointer to the book in the inventory, it is labeled with the title that was inserted inside it. Very useful to mark map coordinates when I find interesting things.
Some textures have been improved (ironbar type).
Oh my God! New Modding APIs! I have to test absolutely! Have added so many new features to the modding. I want to experiment with the clouds.
Thank you Nathan, your videos are always the top!

whoops I use a mod for 3d torches and didn't even know about the changes since I copy paced my older map and mods direct from 0.4.14 to 15 and didn't even take the time to explore the vanilla gameNathan.S wrote:Nope, 3d torches are part of Minetest_game since the release of 0.4.15. :)Chibi ghost wrote:...from the video there seems to be 3d torches although that might be a mod Nathan uses ...

Re: Minetest 0.4.16
welp 1 bug found when I fly I sneak to go down but sneak and zoom has been integrated
so how do I disable zoom because it's playing havoc with flying up and down
but as a boon my game has rarely run smoother

In all your screenshots you are holding an admin tool. :Pmuhdnurhidayat wrote:I could highlight node very far away...

Re: Minetest 0.4.16
That's because I was working on my city's train (cart) network underground on that server, I just went above to take screenshot and post here before going back to work underground. (Luckily it didn't crash that time, usually opening Chrome while Minetest is running could crash Minetest on Android)DS-minetest wrote:In all your screenshots you are holding an admin tool. :Pmuhdnurhidayat wrote:I could highlight node very far away...
It works regardless what I hold in hand, I retried it in singleplayer this time:
It highlights that mese post light placed in front of my skin's dummy statue (I made dummy so I could see the details of my own skin xD). The dummy itself is also highlightable. It is far.
If you can't see the highlighting, you could see the debug clearly detects where I'm pointing at... (btw, you could open the image in new tab and zoom in, the screenshot was taken at my phone's native resolution 1920x1080)
I don't know if it's weird, but personally the bar is quite big in ratio to the font I'm using and in ratio to GUI scaling I set (0.8) on Android version.Napiophelios wrote:I like the new progress bar [...] Is the current image size required for the Android version?

Minor bug:
When in creative mode, you cannot make a written book with regular book.

Just updated to 0.4.16.
On the whole everything performs better!
But I get following errors:
debug.txt:
I don't understand this. All my world.mt files have the line
The following error was a result of a deprecated setting in minetest.conf. Solved!

Re: Minetest 0.4.16
It would figure that I would forget something. I honestly didn't even know that had happened. I don't use books at all, and the discussion surrounding it must have either been very small or I just missed it somehow.LordStephen77 wrote:Nathan I saw your video changelog. Public Service Announcement
This is a mese post light, which is new in Minetest Game:
This is a mese lamp, which Minetest Game had for quite a while:
Please do not confuse the two.
Other important things completely forgotten by Nathan S.:
- All the serious sneaking bugs have been fixed. This is easily the most important change in this release.
Minetest Game (only most important changes):
- Cacti and papyri require light level 13 to grow!
- Nyan Cat and Nyan Cat Rainbow removed
- Tooltip of written books/keys show title / what they open
- A lot of crafting recipes were changed, especially dye crafting has been seriously nerfed

Re: Minetest 0.4.16
Where can I find the 0.4.16 minetest-server and minetest-data packages for Ubuntu 16.04? I got these packages from debian.org last time but they only have 0.4.15 currently.

Re: Minetest 0.4.16
It looks like they are currently in the 'experimental' repo. https://tracker.debian.org/pkg/minetestratmix wrote:Where can I find the 0.4.16 minetest-server and minetest-data packages for Ubuntu 16.04? I got these packages from debian.org last time but they only have 0.4.15 currently.
I did not see a download available, which leaves you to compiling your own package from github source, sorry.
(I didn't suggest the stable PPA, even though that is at 0.4.16 because you asked for -server and -data packages.)
