What about a Servers section? For info purposes. All centralized.

That's not what the contentDB is for. We have a serverlist for a reason.

But serverlist is too much... volatile. I mean it is not organized; visually appeal, etc. It would be cool to have the best servers on a fixed page. And I love ContentDB.

IMO.

You can't be serious. Ha, ha, ha.

You are no candle in this funeral. Do us all a favor and go back to the hole you came from.

Of course my server was born with that intention. To be the best Minetest server.

I bet high. I will not settle for less. I'm like that, take me or leave me.

It's great isn't it!

Hello,
I got an idea for a game where you go around a city trying to cause as much damage as possible; setting buildings and cars on fire, planting explosives, and destroying windows; essentially a riot simulator.

Now, I would like to know if such a game would be allowed on the Minetest Forums and ContentDB. It wouldn't break any of the written rules, but I'm afraid some moderator would remove it because they would deem it political, or say it encourages real-life violence.

This game does this idea really well: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1167630

The problem would be if it encourages violence against a particular target (group/individual/etc), I suggest branding it as a "destroy all the things" rather than a riot thing in particular. Especially as simulating all the people in a riot will be painful

you could also have it be a riot against a fictional group in a made up world

no one's going to get upset about overthrowing the comically-evil obvious baddies whose only political position is that fun is bad

The game wouldn't feature violence against any real life organization/group/person, but rather the government of an unspecified or fictional country.
My idea for the backstory was that the country the protagonist lives in introduced a new law that makes him so mad, he decides to destroy as many things as he can. There wouldn't be any other people helping you, I shouldn't have used the word "riot" to describe this. There will, however be law enforcement officers trying to stop you and this is what concerned me the most, as someone could say that it encourages violence against police officers.

Now, this would just be a game, but I remember how big of a controversy GTA 3 created with its drug-dealing, gang wars, and neighborhood shootouts.

Supported games for Mods

ContentDB now keeps track of which games are supported by a mod. This is shown in the mod page's sidebar, and there's also a hub for each game listing all their compatible content.

This system will be extended to texture packs soon.

Image

Where does the information come from?
There's a recursive algorithm to determine support based on hard dependencies. Modders can use supported_games and unsupported_games in mod.conf to override this. See the docs.

Game hub
Every game now has a page that lists all their content. This is similar to the ContentDB homepage, but customised for a particular game. You can access it by clicking "View content for game" on a game's package page. This will be extended on in the future.

For Modders: Supported Games tool
There's a new tab in the package settings for Supported Games. It shows where CDB is getting its information from, generates the mod.conf keys for you, and has some settings to customise the game support detector.

Hi,

I'm getting a "Task Failed Unknown server error" on contentdb when auto-importing my mod from github with webhook:

How do you know what to change?

The repo is https://github.com/gigaturbo/codeblock

EDIT: investigating https://github.com/minetest/contentdb/issues/298
EDIT2: It works if I remove all 'null' lines but not if I replace 'null' by '[]' for 'content_warning'

Each package now has a Statistics page, showing graphs for downloads per day. The downloads are broken down into clients (Minetest or other) and reason (new install, dependency, update, other). There's currently 14 days of data, but data will be kept indefinitely.

This page is public, any user can see it by clicking "Statistics" in the package's cover image banner.

You may notice that there's been a huge spike in ContentDB traffic, this is because a Spanish YouTuber with 5m subscribers made a video about Minetest.

And now each user also has a page, including a graph summarising all their packages: https://content.minetest.net/user/stats/
