Um, you wrote that in June. Is it necessary to state that we won't see it before June?

I wouldn’t count on that. But that would fit to the statement that very close to 0.4.17 the 0.5 release will be made. Realistically speaking we probably need to wait to September or October at best.

a drive for quality
a set of goals which is desired to be accomplished
some devs being short on time to commit to MT/MTG at the moment

there are other reasons which can be added to the list but those, I think are the top 3.

While I can understand paying customers to constantly asking "when is the next...?", I find it a bit frustrating to see so constantly in this situation..., where the software is free, and the people who work on it, do so in their free time, for no pay.

0.5.0 will be ready..., when it's ready. And it will be announced by someone in the position to announce it

As far as I feel, no mention should be made of any coming releases. It should just be announced when a release is ready and made.

If you look back on every release made, the posts which follow are loaded with "Thanks, good work..., when's the next release?"

The steaming pile of shit that needs a lot of security and bugfixing, a.k.a. client-side modding. Oh, and this: https://github.com/minetest/minetest/milestone/9

Anyone else realized 0.4.17 was released exactly 1 year after 0.4.16?

Release date 0.4.17: 3rd of June 2018
Release date 0.4.16: 3rd of June 2017

There's a bug with this release where it'll crash if certain deprecated functions are called. 0.4.17.1 will be released soon to fix this

Thanks for this release. I noticed that in the Changelog someone forgot to change "0.4.16 → 0.5.x (Not yet released)" to "0.4.17 → 0.5.x (Not yet released)". Can you fix it please?

Thanks for your kind contribution but rubenwardy is entirely right in his last statement:
rubenwardy wrote:0.4.16 -> 0.5.0 is correct as 0.4.17.x are backported releases
Any 0.4.x releases after 0.4.16 are such that were taken from the ongoing development of 0.5.0 (backports), which itself is based on 0.4.16.
EDIT: Forgot to mention, the change was reverted.

Если ты не админ сервера, то обновляться особо и не надо. Также, попробуй неофициальные репозитории, коих у сюзи полно.
If you're not a server admin, you don't really need that to update. Also, try unnoficial repositories that suse has in a big number.
