i have a dell dimension 2400 with pentium 4 2.8 GHz ,1024mb ram and the intergrated intel 845g 64mb graphics card....minetest runs like crap on it..... it doesn't matter if on linux or windows...other games run fine ...minecraft runs at 50 fps...sauerbraten runs at 75 fps....i have a 32 mb pci radeon 7000 also...minetest runs great on it but minecraft and sauerbraten wont run at all....makes me think maybe its not the graphics card but possibly minetest is lacking support for intergrated intel card.....minetest doesn't work on windows no matter if i use the intel or the radeon graphics card....whats up with that? i also have another computer that has a radeon xpress 200 with 256mb also minetest does not run in windows with that either....it is also an intergrated card also in puppy linux it works but it runs at a lower fps than the 32 mb radeon....i dont understand what is the issue the computers can handle the games in puppy linux but not windows period....minecraft is a similar game but has more complex graphics and it runs wonderfully ...seems the issue is minetest...

Minetest can't do that. I can make a video proof if anyone want to )Mito551 wrote:Mojang* Mahjong is the game4aiman wrote:Intel Pentium 2.93 GHz

Also, I do not need any posts, cause I own Pi and it goes up to AWESOME 5 fps! ))))))))
Or should it be "((((((((", cause most of time RPi can do only 0 fps running Minetest?
Minecraft runs full-speed and looks way better on the TV screen that Minetest.
Also, I saw video on Youtube about Minetest port for RPi but can't find any real version available for download.
Tried running minetest on a cubie truck. It runs lubuntu on a dual core ARMv7 with 2G RAM.
It installs OK form the package manager.
It runs at about 0.5 FPS, i.e. one frame every two seconds, but at least it runs.
Well, it was worth a try.

Are you sure you didn't use the software driver of Irrlicht?
You also probably need Irrlicht with ogl es support.

The lowest configuration I was able to play minetest is on my Asus Eee PC 701.
1 GB of Ram
630 Mhz ~ 900 Mhz (OC)
Intel GMA 945 (Im not sure if tis a 915 or 945)
It plays at 5 FPS with maximum viewing thing set to 20.
Debian Wheezy 7.3.
I believe it could run faster with Windows XP, due to better Intel Graphics Driver for XP. However, I'm not installing Windows!

You have intel drivers for Linux. I used it under xubuntu, and they rocked! It was better than the drivers I had on Windows because my games were faster, and yet better.Megaf wrote:The lowest configuration I was able to play minetest is on my Asus Eee PC 701.

7:42 PM - Bauglio: I think if you go to staples you could steal firmware from a fax machine that would run better than win10 does on any platform
7:42 PM - Bauglio: so fudge the stable build

How about mobile devices? I'm astonished as to how well it runs on my phone. It's a rather cheap android one which was not bought for gaming performance.
1 GHz dual core
1 GB RAM (not really comparable to a PC)
Resolution: only 480x735 (that helps a bit as well :-))
view range: 20 (yes, that's not much)
fps: 24-30 (and that's really smooth :-))

Which phone is it? Phones have GPU too so it helps if you could either post your phone or the chipset it was based on or the GPU itself. The brand of CPU matters too. You won't get as many CPU features from an Allwinner as much as you can get from a Snapdragon.Sokomine wrote:How about mobile devices? I'm astonished as to how well it runs on my phone. 1 month ago, when I tried to switch from windows XP to Ubuntu LTSHybrid Dog wrote:Have you tried out linux yet?
Things which made me staying on windows XP and waiting until support runs out completely:
- OpenGL version 1.2 (not much better but 1.4 on Win)
- FPS were about 10-12 (meanwhile 18-26 on Win)
- "xorg doesn't work", fq off, I don't need you, I only need a graphic driver!!
- root password needed everytime, same as abrove, until now I had no need for a "root" thingy, so not in future
- the sound driver took 2 hours to work
- I wouldn't be able anymore to program in .NET (C#) on LINUX/UNIX
- "sudo apt-get install ..", wtf? no .exe or .msi? Damn, don't make my life harder than it already is!
- "Graphic card driver: VISA"?! NO! It's supposed to be SiS661 FX/GX!!
- total invested time: ~10 hours, reached: a multimedia system with a worse gameplay than on windows

Windows: Congratulations! you just installed a computer eating virus! say good bye to this computer as we overide all setting and burn out the CPU!!!!!Krock wrote:root password needed everytime, same as abrove, until now I had no need for a "root" thingy, so not in future
(note: windows tried implementing a similar feature in vista. however, all the windows users raged at it)
linux: root password needed for virus to do any serious damage. your welcome.
help stop the windows plague. adjustment is minimal.Krock wrote:"sudo apt-get install ..", wtf? no .exe or .msi? Damn, don't make my life harder than it already is!
If you have enough harddrive space, you could laso run a dual boot with both windows and linux. Then you can still play those games ignorantly made for only Windows, and still bask in the freedom of open source software.
