Thanks so much for the donations. I feel i should state my appreciation more in this thread but i feel bad about bumping it too often as it may seem like self-interest.
I must apologise for the poor state of my Patreon page, it doesn't seem to come naturally to me to blog there often, and i tend to assume people follow my progress at Github or in the forum. Perhaps i will just post screenshots there.

I want to especially say a big thanks for small donations, that may seem weird, but the fact is most MT users are young and / or have very little money. The number of people only able to give a small amount is very large, so it can add up. So i encourage small donations, don't ever feel any amount is too small, it will never offend me =)

I really appreciate your (and of course others) work here and I really, sincerely hope you'll find the way out of your financial woes. Believe me, I'd be happy to make more than just a symbolic donation, but I am a seasonal worker, so now I must count every penny too :| But tell me, how could I contribute from Poland? I haven't used PayPal or any other transfering tools yet. Is there an easy way to send a small amount of money to you?

I've looked at your PayPal account - is filling the exact personal data of my card obligatory to make a donation?

@paramat, if I look trough minetest_game commits I see your name in ~ 99 % on them. Great work!
I did a payment now, do not like to call it donation but earnings for your hard work.

bell07 Thank you.

voxelproof, the only way to send money is from your own Paypal account if you have one, or by entering your card details on that page. Or of course through Patreon. Don't worry, i understand many do not have Paypal, or do not like it, or don't feel comfortable entering their card details, no problem.

Sometimes i feel i let this thread go too long without updating. I don't want to give the impression that i am ungrateful, it's because i am worried about bumping this thread too often in my own self-interest.
As always, thanks for the donations, i find it a little difficult to write because i find it a little difficult to describe how grateful i am.
Financial situation is the same, rent for where i live is paid but no other income.

So, stuff i've been doing:

I see that in January of this year i posted about passing 600 commits total (engine plus game). I've been working insanely hard over the last few months and have now just passed 750 total: 418 in MTEngine and 335 in MTGame.
In MTEngine 3rd highest contributor, 2nd highest of active core devs. In MTGame highest contributor by a large margin, not far off 3 times that of the next highest.

As we work on MT 5.0.0 i have discovered and fixed many bugs in mapgen, lots of cleaning up, and have added many useful new mapgen features.

I am experimenting long term with the possibility of biome-defined 'atmosphere' nodes, as the atmosphere is the last node not definable in a biome. This will help MT to 'do space' and allow vacuum nodes, alien atmospheres, but also mist and fog, or hazardous gases in a biome, such as cave gases.

As always i have been working on a new core mapgen, on the 4th rewrite of it currently, still not sure if or when it will be mergeable, but if it is liked perhaps in time for MT 5.0.0.

In MTGame lots of improvements to biomes, new trees and flora, new surface nodes. Recently the biomes are beginning to actually 'impress' me.

For details on my commits see the links in the first post of this thread.

I'm up to 800 commits in total for MTEngine, MTGame and the website repo. Just so you know i'm still coding like nuts.

Not sure if this is your kind of thing, but I automatically give small donations to sites I visit via Flattr. I know they support github accounts, so that might be an easier way to turn things around.

Wow so long without an update.
As always, indescribable appreciation for the donations.
I've just hit 500 commits in the MT Engine, 374 in MTGame. I'm also working with a few others on an excellent new game for MT called 'Hidden Worlds'.

As you may know, over the last few years i have been working obsessively on MT.
Now that MT 5.0.0 is released, the result of 1.5 years of work, i am feeling less obsessive, and have also realised i was, in a way, working 'too hard', out of balance with the rest of my life in a way that was somewhat unhealthy.

So this update is partly to let you know that i am now working less hours on MT, instead of the previous 4-8 every day with no days off, now more like 2-4 per day and the occasional day off. Anyone who is donating deserves to know how much i am working.

My financial situation is the same as before. Rent for where i live is mostly paid by my city coucil, otherwise i have no source of income, and no savings.

As an indication of my devotion to MT, many months ago i was offered a paid job as a developer for a commercial Android-focussed fork of MT. I turned it down because: My heart wasn't in it, i don't like these commercial MT forks that profit from what is mostly other people's work. It would also have greatly reduced the time i have for MT.

Of course, i am more able to turn down offers like this if i receive donations for my MT work ... =)

Just a note about my Patreon account: I hardly ever post there, but i need to make it clear this is not an indication of lack of appreciation for my patrons, i just prefer to post in this forum.

Developers should be paid by celeron. I know this site generates advertising revenue. A part should come to you all.

If I saw one thing clear, I'd donate money. I hate the concept of 'charity' of the Anglo-Saxon people, in my country it is totally despised. Better to call it a donation to improve Minetest.

This bit which celeron55 receives goes toward maint of the website/server, it is far more than enough, what he does... when he really is not obligated to do so. (and where do you believe advertising revenue is coming from?) The site survives solely on donations so I'm not sure where you got your info from.

I prefer and support devs who see to their own calls/requests for donations. This is the way it should be.
