awesome stuff

so I had a look at my screenshot folder and found these castles and tower houses I built in the last 3 years

once I had a castle on JustTest

Image
and another
Image
and another
Image
and one below that
Image
and the last project before the server went down
Image
actually there where more but I forgot to take pictures of some
Spoiler
Image
On LandRush there was this cliff that just needed a castle

Image
somewhere on my desert experimental server a more detailed version of one I had built on JustTest

Image
Towering above a fantasy castle I built for my niece on a private map

Image
on the server of Megaf - somehow never finished

Image
a tiny tower-house on Wildes-Land

Image
My base on the reset Xanadu server becoming more castle like with every visit

But I should not forget my beginings on VanessaE's servers

Image
when the server began I built a castle overlooking the spawn area

Image
but spawn grew

Image
and the once carefully designed view from spawn is somewhat obstructed
but such is development
and sadly this server has also been reset

My oldest castle on a public server still stands on VanessaE's creative server

not far from that in a lake

The Red Castle
Image
a classical four corner, four towers design on a tiny footprint with two walls adorned by houses and a little gatehouse. Each tower is one floor higher than the one lower except for the big tower which is two floors higher and the houses are on the same hight as the two lowest towers but span between the next higher and the big tower. Also with each higher floor the tower centers are one block further away from the castle center.

Thank you Sers :-)
Wow to twoelk - you are awesome meisterlich. Very interesting watching your way and progress in building over that long time. You found and crowned absolute amazing spots, turned them into stunning artisan paintings. So impessive and storytelling, I realy love this art.

From German Landrush Server and Wildes Land some of mine in return:

Castles...hm.

The fortified house on King Arthurs Land is intended to be an early medieval fortified house (kind of a predecessor to a modern castle). As things happen, the village nearby grew and turned into a rather huge medieval port town which would belong to a much later period. The inhabitants of the fortified house still grow their own vegtables and refused to adapt their castle to more "modern" times.
Image

Another old mixture between castle and fortified house can be found on Redcrabs server. The house guards the road and tunnel below it. It is assumed that a prior wooden castle existed at this place in order to collect tolls before the more modern house was erected. This castle is one of the very few of its kind that actually comes with furniture and modern plumbing. Kind of more like a mansion with a background as a castle.
Image

The city in a desert on Krocks server has a building complex at its center that houses a former embassy to a colony (now used as a town hall), the home of the ambassador and some barracks (now used as a youth hostel) which also contained stables for the horses. It's not much of a fortification, but at least it comes with a small tower.

Diffrent situations require diffrent kinds of strongholds. Thus, a server (called FREEDOM) with hostile mobs (and player!), which did not even have any protection mod at all, just got a very functional kind of fortress built out of cheap material.
Image

The house on rnd's lab server served a similar purpose. The thing on top is an actuall turret. It was needed in order to fend off all those nasty stone mobs that where attacking at night.

And, last but not least, the "real" castles.

This particular castle was built on [server removed] while that still used to be a server running freeminer. The textures where slightly diffrent back then. They have changed since then. An old screenshot (see below) shows how the castle used to look like. The building is open for tourists. Don't expect any furniture and don't get lost inside!
Image

Spielerstammtisch.de, which used to be the server housing this proud little castle, is sadly long gone. The castle is unfinished. It has the old Bergfried and a newer part below for less cramped and more representative living areas, but the area on top of the hill never got finished. It is assumed that the castle inhabitants ran out of money.
Image

If you wish to visit a castle, you might find the one at Trainwrecktonys server attractive. It is still...er...beeing excarvated/restaurated, but most of it is already open for tourists, including the Vorburg. The castle is called "Burg Hochwald" (might probably be translated as "castle High forrest/castle woodland"). The name is derived from the huge amount of trees that had to be cut down in order to erect the castle.

This is the Great Wall of Minetest, a 4,000 meter long military stronghold encircling the Surface Colony on the Must Test Server. The entire build consists of 16 guard towers, 4 watch towers, 4 gatehouses, 1 pass tower, and 1 castle fortress aptly titled Castle Nemo.

The project involved hand-placing roughly 80,000 stone brick, cobble, asphalt, and netherack blocks, in addition to harvesting about 150,000 mese crystal fragments for the required 1,400 protection blocks (the mese harvesting alone took ~195 hours). Afaik, the Great Wall is the longest and most expensive fully protected fortification ever constructed by a single player on a Minetest survival server.

Some castles you might or might not have seen yet. Sadly, they are not easily accessible to intrested tourists. Most of them are quite old by now.

This blue castle guards the sea below. It has been built on a high, difficult to access mountain top. All of those blueish stones had to be carried up over narrow paths and through some small tunnels.
Image

Built solely to protect its inhabitants, this MineClone2 castle comes with water around and tick, fortified walls. It guards a secret portal inside. Life takes place on the upper floors. Horses can occasionally be seen walking on the wooden segments that connect the towers.
Image

This castle here is sadly lost completely. Perhaps the owners moved out due to it beeing pretty windy and narrow up there.

Very nice castles! Just a bit dark in that screenshot. Guess they don't want to give enemies cluse as to where they may shoot...

Your castle looks better than many much larger MC maps with fancy, phantastic and completely unrealistic design. It seems to me that it's roughly based on some real structure. I think it's a matter of a bit asymmetric plan which makes an impression of a model of something that could be built in reality.
