Re: Minetest convention [Maybe pilot in the United Kingdom]
Afterthought:
from the virtual perspective, maybe hosting a few virtual meetups, say once a month, could be interesting, and doing ones for different timezones.... anybody can attend any of them, but specifying separate events and start times for different time zones allows people to choose one, and attend at the same time as other people instead of haphazardly...? personally I'm more likely to attend the USA ones for example, since I would only really have time in the evening/at night....

I can be sure many people from LATAM that actually likes Minetest, and don't judge it as a "cheap-MC", justly aren't the enough. I can be sure that i never seen any FOSS con in Colombia... As well due to "culture", generally the computers are only used as "entertaiment" and "social-life", i don't know about anybody closely where i live that be a Minetest-Fan...
The governs always looks like they'd like to be under "EE.UU Firms"... That's why in the schools there are so many "License Missing" software...
I would like more to do a "virtual convention", or at least have it with the "MeseCon" at the same time..
I think about the fact that maybe is more possible a convention in Brazil for South America, as well there is more people there lovin' open source, but since they (Brazilians) only speak Brazilian Portuguese looks kinda hard...
Have a nice day! :D

I'd prefer to attend one near or in Southern California.
Every time a mod API is left undocumented, a koala dies.

About U.S.A... Where do you want to do the MeseCon?Byakuren wrote:I'd prefer to attend one near or in Southern California.

Re: Minetest convention [Maybe pilot in the United Kingdom]
EDIT - discuss a virtual meetup alternative in another thread
Maybe this can be started out online - and then moved to physical locations if there is enough interest?
As for the virtual platform.... I know some people here are likely to want to use Open Source Free Software, so Skype is out of the running.
Palava.tv is open source, I don't know how well it scales, but it requires no client to be installed https://palava.tv
Otherwise I could donate a server for a Mumble room, but that'll require everyone to be using the Mumble client, and would be audio only.
Tox (qTox?) or Ring.cx are another possibility, but again requires a client to be installed.
Any other suggestions?
(should I even create a new poll on a new thread.....?)

Maybe we can try a realtime "forum" or "chat"...taikedz wrote:Maybe this can be started out online - and then moved to physical locations if there is enough interest?

The idea of "palava.tv" is very good as well!
The "Mumble" one looks good too...
Have a nice day! :D

Re: Minetest convention [Maybe pilot in the United Kingdom]
A virtual meet up is pretty pointless, we do that anyway using IRC. This is not the thread to discuss a virtual convention, unless it's in the context of live streaming

Re: Minetest convention [Maybe pilot in the United Kingdom]
I'll agree that an IRC-style meetup is totally pointless. For my part, my intention was a live stream with the talking heads and the video etc etc. But this should indeed move to another thread. Discuss virtual meetups in this threadrubenwardy wrote:A virtual meet up is pretty pointless, we do that anyway using IRC. FWIW I am still game for a UK in-person meetup, so long as it's easy to get to from main train lines.
Dare I even suggest somewhere near central London, so as to facilitate as much as possible for mainland Europe too? (even though I know some will say UK is still not their preference, maybe it'll work for others)
Re: Minetest convention [Maybe pilot in the United Kingdom]
I think you already have mostly stuff ready about Europe... But in South America looks kinda hard...
BTW where is going to be the convention in USA?

Re: Minetest convention [Maybe pilot in the United Kingdom]
Any developments on the in-person meetup?
I'll cast a vote for a hackathon/buildathon.

Hi,
i have view ideas:
1. We can make a "MeseCon" in RL every year in an other country.
2. We can make a MeseCon-day there lot's is over the world people in groups and a videochat to the other groups.
And there are workshops where you can tinker thinks (like a MESEcube).
3. A virtual meetup on a Server, but if there to much people the server is full, and if it give a TS. (i think there will be to much people. But a speech (i think it called so) will be very good.
I have a question:
Give it MT-t-shirts? When it give no MT-t-shirts - Why???
I like MT very much and i want a MT-t-shirt.

I chose "live elsewhere + would attend one nearer to me (please say where)". How about one in Chicago, USA? That I could do.
Do what you love, and you will love what you do! :)

But really a good place to stake out could be LibrePlanet. The focus is on nothing in particular, as long as it is FLOSS.
