Ported over my first world from Minecraft Classic to Minetest... ahh, the nostalgia. Having to play minecraft in my browser, such a primitive lighting system, absolutely horrendous draw distance, having to constantly fear flooding the entire map by mining the wrong block, blocks being larger than they are in Minetest and modern Minecraft... those were the days.

The landscape in those pictures is interesting. From my unique perspective, mapgen v7 should seek to have the best features of past mapgens, namely v5 and v6. A fantastical world makes a survival game all the more memorable. It is a given that the same can also be said for creative games.

Please don't try to use Mapgen V7 yet, it's very unfinished and I needed to add it early to avoid merging difficulties later on.
Ha ha, I was only joking. Here is a very small piston double door. Each side has the same circuit, so you can do single doors with it too.
You see nothing except 2 pistons on each side if you walk through the opened hallway. If it doesnt work for you, then try to swap the delayer and the diodes.
A delayer next to a diode delays the off signal, but not the on signal. If you put not gates at both ends you delay the on, but not the off signal.

That depicts some kind of portal. Where is it and where does it go? Minecraft can be an inspiration, but Minetest should have a since of individuality. If you are going to add a realms similar to the nether and the aether to Minetest, give them different names and make them look unique. Also, have them exist on the same map that the main overworld does, just at extremes in height and depth. There is no sense in creating more than one map when the overworld map has far more than enough space.
For the underground realm based on the nether, I think that portions of it could look like massive dungeons that were built by giants. The rest of it could look like a vast cavern system with rivers and pools of super lava (the super lava could also be found quite heavily in the massive dungeons down there.)
