So, river water is renewable, isn't? If river water be like a normal water, the map generator would have other problems? Why the difference?

Valleys mapgen shows you why. Best example I can think of, as it is the only official mapgen which actually uses river water.

That's not a bug -- it's just how Minetest does water. I've tried to find some way to fix the liquid handling, but haven't come up with anything better. It's just a really knotty problem.

Ok, I see what you mean. With regular water, you need at least three buckets full to get infinite water sources out. With river water you only need one. I wonder if that's to do with the different liquid_range values.

I don't know that it matters. You can get infinite water either way. If that was taken out, you'd get flowing holes in the sea whenever someone drew water from it.



Edit: Alright, now I think I've grasped the renewable setting, but I can't get the river water trick to work. Maybe that's a bug that they've already fixed.

I talk about the possibility of filling as many buckets as you want with river water.

If river water is not renewable, I understand that it should be scarce.

I'm curious if you've tried a plain black skybox instead of the blue? It's a very interesting picture and I like it a lot.

I also noticed your screenshots are not quite 1920x1080. (Minetest window not fullscreen? Can Alt-F11 in Xfce, can also be bound in GNOME.)
