I really like this type of analytic pictures ... besides this being an interesting theme explored.
long time ago I adopted a sort of modular way to build little forts:

but compared to other types, .. oh well

although the castle in the background is a little cheating for effect as those are actually two castles and some other buildings piling up behind each other.

Above posts is another argument for why we need a simple-to-use procedural and modular schematic placer lib mod!

A nice mountain pass...

...and a mountain jungle. Traversing such terrain is a true challenge and a game itself, especially in survival gameplay with all the necessary impediments present. The rocky massif which can be seen in the centre is about 270 nodes tall.

My hello to the forum!
I recently started playing minetest along with my kids and nephews in creative mode of a private server of mine.
Here are some of my creations so far:
A windmill in the hill:

A magical garden with a waterfall coming from the heavens above:

A pirate ship (The sails where torn from my nephew):

Weather will soon be integral to survival on JT2! Ambient temperature and the temperature of items being wielding can directly affect a player's sense of heat and cold. Thankfully, armor can be worn for protection such as chestplates, helmets, boots, and leggings which offer varying rates of conductivity and insulation depending on the material.

Image

For example, steel boots would be horrible for walking through large banks of snow, since they have high conductivity, resulting in eventual frostbite of your feet. Likewise, cactus chestplates have high insulation, so wearing it while mining obsidian will lead to heat stroke since your body temperature rises as you do more intense work.

A player's sense of temperature is also affected by radiant nodes within close range, such as lava or fire. In addition, holding onto hot or cold conductive items for too long, like ice cubes or lava buckets, can burn or freeze you. Swimming in water for extended periods can also lead to hypothermia if the outdoor temperature is too low. And even after you resurface it will take a moment for your temperature to adapt to the surroundings until you shed all of the water from your body.

Image

You can see in the screenshot above how my "felt_temp" decreases rapidly right after removing all of my armor since I am standing on a block of ice even though the ambient temperature is 72 degrees Fahrenheit. But a few seconds later, when I put my hefty cactus boots on, my 'felt_temp" slowly increases again. But of course, it still doesn't even approach 72 degrees, as no boots offer 100% insulation.

I've done a lot of fine-tuning of the algorithm to ensure it is challenging but still playable. And overall i'm really pleased with the realism and immersion. I definitely think weather-based survival adds a whole new dimension to gameplay in Minetest :)

sorcerykid, this is great news for me as I’ve many times have tried to implement this feature correctly but always come up short. I’d like to see the algorithm some day!

Voronoi influenced terrain.

Naturally occurring protected harbor. This was a nice find in the development test map. I'm emerging the rest for a map.

Also looks like a great opportunity for a bridge....

Impressive xD Albeit basically I'm not interested in player's garments, this one looks really good. Btw I think that a werewolf mob would be an interesting addition to other creatures, if only he was scary enough. (Too bad armor can't be made glow)
