Happy International Transgender Day of Visibility!

by Wuzzy » Post

Image

Because ca. 1% of people are transgender, there are a lot of Minetest players (over 10000), so it is very likely there are a few Minetest players who are also transgender. This day is for you. :-)

Finally got my heavily patched arch pkgbuild to work with the modified irrlicht, so I have minetest again.

I'm looking forward to loads of lovely april-fools screenshots!

For those of you who miss your news fix while playing minetest, I present the ultimate news ticker. This mod will digest all the news of the day and boil out the words that matter most, printing them into the very terrain of your world. And, so they'll have maximum impact, it writes them in LAVA. Now you can bring all the joy of current events into your minetest game, every day, all day long!

Nobody should miss "the news fix", especially not for for those topics.

Playing around with a new formspec style for my mTimer mod. This is the main menu right now.

Image
Spoiler
I just hope that labels and images overlapping buttons becoming click-through is intentional.

Since the button names are actually labels those labels can go outside the button if the font is scaled up a lot. I tried textareas used as multi-line labels but no luck, they just don’t behave as nice as labels. Unfortunately labels cannot be limited in width.

Hopefully one day buttons in this style (icon on the left, text right next to it, not centered) are possible without some placement trickery. Right now, this is used to build a button.

HUGE NEWS! Broken depth-sorting, currently the oldest bug (#95) in Minetest, is about to be fixed:

After:
Image

Before:
Image
(don't mind the unknown nodes, the bug is that one of the blue pillars that you could see in the previous image is invisible in this image because of the bug)

In my tests I still found a few minor bugs but it's close to be finished. Bug-free colored translucent glass might become a possibility. This is so great!

I miss my credit 😀

I've also been playing with soft-light shadows, which can complement Liso's work on shadow mapping. Some screenshots of the prototype (and to stay on topic):

Speaking of realtime shadows, I even managed to fix it on unusual systems.

Estimating curves by hand in a cubic world is not great... But its a fun challenge nonetheless

I chose a good orientation for this.

I needed some brain-off time, so I made a giant lake by hand (yes, doing it by hand was on purpose, its cathartic)

Obligatory: Image Image (I suggest opening the two above in new tabs and then moving between tabs so the images lineup, makes the effect more fun.)
Image

I suppose this was the least "by hand" part. But I did set all the fires myself.

Image

The method is to cover the area with glowblocks and then put water sources on top of that. Then when I have the underside shaped how I want, then I remove the glowblocks and let the water fill in the void.

Image

Almost done with the glowstone cover

Image

Most of the area didn't have to be reshaped as it was already a fairly nice valley. But making the dam on the left side wasn't a short process either.

Image

A fun shot inside the area I'm about to let be filled in.

Image

I switched texture packs midway through to break up the monotony

Image

Replacing the last layer of rock with dirt (yes, I did that for the whole lake)

Here is my stress cure =) This is basically a tnt with radius = 90
I tried with radius = 100 and it's still works
radius = 300 crashes the game
